https://saddlehunter.com/community/...-tech-deluxe-improved-harness-xl-75-tyd.8278/Are they any Rock climbing harnesses with rated gear loopa or linemans loops?
The gear loops are not rated. The manual states that trying to use them other than gear storage will most likely end in failure. This is the problem in searching for a good light weight safety harness. The climbing industry doesn't care about rated gear loops. If you need that get an arborist or rescue harness. But those guys dont care about weight. It's a catch 22.I think this one from Metolius is rated, you'll have to do a little more research than the Moosejaw info

Question: if you have no intention of using the gear loops, can you remove them from the RCH? Or...do they come in handy at times?
So from what I've read. This is correct. But according to their manual they have covered their butts and put a warning against it.FWIW, I’ve heard the gear loops on Metolious are designed the way they are, is for beginners who accidentally hook into a gear loop instead of the belay. So yes, it a way they are meant to support a persons weight.
