I’ve posted this on other threads, but for me, the Hill People Gear “Connor” is hands down my favorite. It’s really low profile that works great for packing in hunting gear!
On the outside of the pack, there are two webbing straps to secure sticks, platform, bow, or whatever. It also features two webbing straps on the bottom of the pack which I use to hold my rolled up bibs or jacket. There are also strategically placed small webbing loops around the frame on the outside which work great for attaching bungees if you need to attach the pack to a stand, or need to pack extra clothes onto the pack. The pack is sort of minimalistic and does not have waist strap, but I actually prefer this...less straps to deal with and get in the way. Their yoke system backpack straps with load lifters are more than capable of handling loads comfortably. On the sides of the pack, there are two hypalon wings with PALS (molle) cuts for attaching pouches, knives or whatever if you want. The wings are very durable and have a grippy, rubbery feel.
As far as storage, their is one main pouch and one accessory pouch, and two mesh water bottle holders on the outside. Inside the main pouch, the back is solid Velcro with molle cuts—again for attaching things like pouches, bino harness pouches, etc. I stuck Velcro command strips on the back of my phone charger battery pack and stick it towards the top and it works perfectly—does not move!
This pack is intended as a day pack, and as such does not have a heavy duty frame, but it does come with a contoured frame sheet inside the back of the pack. It weighs 1#.
Best of all, it’s made in the USA.
I’ll try to take a couple more pics and post later...but here are a couple.

They still offer this pack? Can’t find it on their site.

They do not but I called and was told to expect an updated one coming out this winter. I have had the tarahumara and it’s one of the best built packs I’ve see just was a tad small for what I wanted. I’m anxiously awaiting the new release.

I also use the HPG Conner Pack, absolutely love it. The low profile is perfect, I hang it on the tree in front of me and it allows easy access to needed items and still stays well out of the way.

I have a Molle bottle pouch attached to the side and that keeps my thermos of coffee easily accessible. Inside I have a few different Molle pouches attached to keep my gear organized.

For me, this is the ultimate saddle hunting pack... and I’ve tried a lot. Of course, everyone’s tastes and needs are different, but for me it was like finding the holy grail.

Yes my search ended when I found this pack! I think it’s the best whitetail day pack for the mobile hunter out there for the reasons you listed. Glad to see somebody else out there is running it for saddle hunting!

Anybody been using this Drake pack?

I will be strapping hawk minis to each side and predator in the water bladder slot or on the back depending if I want to carry my bow or use the weapon carry option on the back.

Got it for a good price too, still half off if anyone is in the market

Maybe you like ugly and cheap, but ability to put anything, anywhere you'd like. Only downside I can see so far is that it is a little wider than most smaller packs, so it might have a bit more outline in the tree for deer (a few inches here or there). If I need to, I can easily remove the 2 center mesh sacks and put a medium size backpack there. A big up side is that everything rides very close to the back, which means it feels lighter and is less likely to get hung up in brush.

Here's what the frame looks like without all the stuff on it.

You could easily fit 3 full size sticks individually arranged vertically and still have plenty of real estate for other pouches and bags.

Eberlestock mainframe with transformer pack attached has become my go to. It absolutely can carry anything I would ever need to carry. Has a shelf below the pack that is part of the mainframe that can carry anything you want on it also. Have extra straps attached to the frame that can go all the way around the pack to lash anything to it, but distributes the weight on the frame so it doesn't move around. Its a bit heavy but its bulletproof and it is the only do all pack I've found.
