Saddle v. Traditional in the wind

I would like to get into a saddle for this season. I’ve been researching, you tubing, podcast listening to acquire all available information prior to jumping in. I haven’t found anyone mentioning the difference up in the tree on a windy day between a saddle and traditional setup. Would anyone be able to share their experience?
 
I personally feel a hell of a lot safer attached to a tree when the winds bad than a climber, ladder stand, etc. being tied in just feels better. I think hunting in the rain sux. The water comes right down the rope in to your waist even with my tree umbrella

I don’t think it really makes any difference. You are going to feel the tree swing some but that’s about it. I’ve been up in 20 mph wind and it didn’t make me any difference.

If you’re thinking the wind might be blowing you all over the tree or swinging all around I just don’t think that happens. Maybe if the wind was 40 or 50 mph, but then I probably won’t be out there in a tree at all.
 
I’m much more comfortable in a saddle in that situation. I’ve sat in some REALLY small trees since I started saddle hunting, and rocked back and forth for hours. Worst part is it rocks you to sleep like a toddler.

I’ve been up in my saddle on 3 days in particular that I can remember it being really windy/stormy. Honestly I thought it was fun swinging around up there! Didn’t feel unsafe at all since you are directly attached to the tree. I texted my hunting partners that I was like a monkey on the mast of a ship!
 
I’ve sat through some BAD wind gusts and been just fine. One day in particular a front came in and we had 40+ gusts and I actually climbed down three different times to sit at the base of the tree waiting for it to pass lol. I wasn’t afraid because I was in the saddle, I was worried about the tree snapping off! Haha. The nice thing about the saddle is you can shift around the tree and use the tree as a wind blocker so it’s not slamming you the whole time

Tie a small water break on your tether.
 
Sorry I know it's not in a saddle, same concept though. Zoom in and look at the right side of my hammock suspension. Just girth hitch a small piece of cord around your tree tether, gives the water someplace else to go. Best if placed under the umbrella. Paracord will work.20170218_164248.jpg
