That's what I was gonna say. When I shot my bear they actually gave us a cookbook with recommended cooking temps and time to eat it safely.

HOW TO SAFELY COOK BEAR MEAT Black bear meat can be a carrier of Trichinella spiralis and Toxoplasma gondii, the parasites that cause the diseases trichinosis and toxoplasmosis in humans. Proper cooking techniques can ensure that your bear meat is safe to eat. Like pork, the proper cooking time for bear meat is 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes per pound. Internal cooking temperature should reach 160 degrees for 3 minutes or more before consumption. Cook until there is no trace of pink meat or fluid paying close attention to areas around the joints and close to the bone. Freezing meat does not always kill these parasites. Connoisseurs of bear meat suggest freezing, canning or eating it within a week after the kill as the flavor becomes stronger with age. Trim fat from the meat especially well and, as is the case with all meat, good wrapping and sealing is recommended.

I’ve eaten wild pig off and on most of my life.... never had trichinosis. Cook completely, and you are fine.

Well guys... I was trying to make it in Thursday, but it looks like it will be mid day Friday instead. For some reason, my wife wants a couple days with me after I’ve been gone almost 3 weeks. Also, she was pretty perturbed that I wanted to leave the night before my birthday. I can’t imagine why. Haha

The pig farmer says Cook to 160 degrees use a meat thermometer
Domestic pig have that parasite licked but not pigs outdoors
We raise pigs indoors now. The pigs pick it up in the dirt.

I will get my firearms registered tonight. I'm deciding on which license to buy now.

G2 you should have gotten Dan Wright’s paperwork last night. Let me know if not. All we have left to do is buy the license on iSportsman. I’m thinking since I’m planning on getting in mid day Thurs that it makes sense to just get an annual license. Same price for 4 days

What kind of email account do you have? I use gmail and use it in a browser, is your computer trying to open a default email program that was never setup?

I use gmail also. It doesn't let me open it though. I'm not sure of the problem. I'm trying to look at the bright side that I'm only out 130$ an I have not yet purchased a hunting licenses an pass for the base. Not real happy to miss out on this.

I am still trying to work out the details (on my end) to attend this event. If I can make it work i will be there for Saturday only.

It is hard for me to describe how excited I am to just be thinking about being able to hang out, yep Pun intended, with you Saddle Guys. Seeing all the different equipment and hopefully being able to be hands on testing and checking it out will be awesome.
