Stepladder question

How many clips are you using? Great ingenuity. I know the clips on the site say they can handle hundreds of pounds.
I didn’t know the weight limit on the gear hook was just 100. It handled 200 just fine but I guess I should use a carabiner and short webbing loop next time. Lol. I also had a tether around the tree connected to my harness by a grigri. Even if the clip failed and the aider popped off I wouldn’t have fallen.
Moving the tether up the tree can be kind of slow but I like how secure it feels and with a grigri I can easily rappel down or ascend up to the top of my tether.
This is my first season hunting exclusively from a saddle. I’ve been trying lots of new things to figure out what will be my system. 7 deer down and a couple weeks to go. It’s been great!

The site says hundreds of pounds. As in several hundred or more lbs.

Thanks bigjoe, I Just checked the site and you’re right it says hundreds of pounds. It’s pretty beefy so I thought it would be more than just 100. I think I’m going to try two of them on the aider and putting them on the rope on either side of the Stepp so the weight is distributed better. The hook can slip to the side when attached to the Stepp itself and tilt the Stepp some.

I don't like how they say "hundreds of pounds". I would like real specs.

I don't think there are specs as it isn't for climbing. It is for hanging gear off a Stepp which is how I was thinking of it. A carabiner and webbing loop would be rated/tested and a better recommendation.

I was tied into the tree by my tether saddle and grigri which took most of my weight except when I stopped to advance the tether. That gear is rated for climbing. I can see how it would be bad if the gear hanger failed and I was not tethered but using a linesman belt. I'd probably take a slide.

Good feedback guys. Appreciate pointing out things that could get someone hurt. Have to stay safe out there.

I apologize to wild edge. I believe they used to not have the actual weight ratings on there because I remember reading "hundreds of pounds". Regardless now they have actual ratings when I go to look at their aider.
