Team 10

I got a single “hunt” in near home. Walked a few miles into an area I felt good about. It looked ok, but not great. More importantly the wind was wrong for any type of sittin still. So I stalked back out. No deer sightings.

I leave Sunday night for Kentucky. Weather not as good as I had hoped for next week, but we’ll make something happen. Ohio, Illinois, Missouri all in play as well if we see nothing exciting on this farm.

Well I shot a doe yesterday evening at last light. Got some blood but not good blood. Dark red blood no bubbles. Waited 3 hours put my new 1st track job dog on it and found where deer stood for some time and had about a hand full of blood. Tracked it for 2 hours until couldn't find any more blood. Think it was just a flesh wound. Arrow wasn't covered in blood only small amount on the fletching. Probably shouldn't have shot it was dark in the deep woods 10 minutes before legal light was over. Had to work today and get up at 5 and got in bed around 12:30 so I'm dragging this morning. Hated that my dogs first track job didn't turn up a deer. He did pretty good. I had to get him back on track 2 times but once on track he ran it until no blood found. Hopefully it will live to be hunted another day. Sorry team I tried.

My girls decided they want to try to go hunting tomorrow afternoon, last soccer games of the season in the AM, so as long as they don't change their minds in the next 18 hours or so, looks like I might be taking them and the ground blind out for a first try tomorrow afternoon. Not planning on seeing much, but looking forward to it. There's like a 60+% chance they change their minds before to morrow afternoon but we shall see.

I am finally going to hit the timber this afternoon. I'm ready for a little one on one time with mother nature! Good luck all!

Weather warmer than anticipated this week.

Back has been messed up for 3-4 days now, having a tough time getting loosened up, and sitting is killing me.

Major anxiety leaving busy work situation and my kid and wife.

I’ll be showing up to Kentucky on fumes.

I’m not exactly sure how the universe works, but I’m pretty sure it means I’ll kill a big one!

The kids and I went out this afternoon. I hauled in the popup ground blind and three folding chairs, They made tons of noise and we left a hour before sundown because they had had enough, but they had a great time so they want to go out again. Mission success.

13 hours in the saddle on Saturday. One small buck came in to the decoy, and also saw 3 different bears. Really slow day considering...

Well, I messed up again. Had a doe at 20 yards and was pulling the bow back and hit the release by accident and fired an arrow at about half draw. spooked her and she ran a few yards into the brush and started snorting. If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all.

I shot him. Came in at 630 and circled around to my freshened scrape. ~20 yards broadside and I think I went a little back. He didnt react well. Not hunched but no jump and kind of jogged back the way he came. Splatter of bright blood, blood on arrow, didn't smell bad. Giving it until 8. Send thoughts, prayers, good vibes, whatever you guys are into.

If height was good it looks promising!!! If not, in theory, it could be low. I like what I'm seeing based off of the info though lol. If they're all jacked up, sometimes they don't react like you think they would, and it doesn't look like gut or liver...

Hard to tell from pictures but I feel like I see some bubbles on the leaves in the bottom of the pic?! Hopefully you're in the middle of field dressing him right now...

That looks like a dead deer or an expandable hit. thats a good bit of blood and it looks like you got some fizzy bubbly in it.
