Tethrd Predator CFX

Have avoided this thread for a while. Last 5 pages are pretty funny, rub some dirt on it and all. Seems like other than the one tethrd employee making a weak argument that we should all bow down and thank them for innovating and moving the industry forward??? Most everyone's on the same page that this is yet another fail? Raise your hand if you're surprised...

Fail or not I at least have to give them credit for going out on the limb of innovation. I question putting stuff out that has major bugs like previously releases and it appears this one has them as well.

I too appreciate Tethrd’s efforts here. TN has teased a CF stand/platform for quite awhile…but came to market this year with a machined aluminum platform. It took Tethrd some time but they did cross the finish line.

But if it doesn’t stand up, that’s not much to celebrate. Not saying it won’t. But it hasn’t been unanimously praiseworthy so far and frankly the instructions scare me, as there just aren’t enough details about the manufacturing to understand what the heck they mean by them. I’m tuned into @Chrighton and the other members who try/have tried the CFX for honest feedback on how it’s performing.

Also, I’m watching how Forged CF plays out with the Latitude sticks.

It’s a neat technology, but time will tell how well Forged CF can be made to perform in various hunting applications. I’d like to some more CF products come through glowingly.

I don't have my predator anymore, but it may be that the CFX has the knob mounted to the post... takes up more space and doesn't allow for as much tilt.
Yeah that’s correct. One could take that knob out and gain the full adjustment if one was so inclined. Someone can take better pictures I’m sure but that should be good enough for this purpose. Standard predator, CFX, adjustment with screw removed. IMG_6016.jpegIMG_6017.jpegIMG_6018.jpeg

Was packing it up back in the box to tape it up when I thought I'd snap one more pic to further illustrate what I mean by the angle. You can see how much difference there is side by side. It needs a gen 2 to remedy that View attachment 97284View attachment 97285
couple of things immediately come to mind:
1) Between the batwing, the size, the treads, the adjustment knob…my Gen2 Predator looks like a toy compared to the Gen3/XL, and that CFX looks like a toy. Period.
Why does every major Tethrd release need further R&D before it gets to a decently useable piece of equipment?
2) I would call that sufficiently dirty to have given this platform a fair shake (or a fair flex, crack, and settle as it were). Looks like you followed the instructions to the T(ethrd).

I feel like the Gen3 CFX is gunna be the ticket, no sarcasm.
But by that time they’ll be spoilering a saddle with integrated platform and tether system made completely out of actual organic spider silk (which they invented, just check the language on the forthcoming patent). High speed low drag. No metal needed.

Actually, to the Tethrd spies in this thread, I’d probably pay for that. Gen2 and up only though. And call it something dope like “Araknd”.

Remind me, how many Generations did the Mission platform need?
Oh right.
Proceed.

I’m just trying to show comparisons using what I have. No skin in the game. I like it right now, maybe that’ll change but I admittedly hope not, it would be cool to never spend another dime because I was so happy with every piece of gear I own. Right now I can have a larger platform at the same weight I had a smaller one I trusted and it fits in my pack well. I’m just trying to do the same thing we all are for the most part; kill deer and share info.

Before you know if they will make some kinda carbon fiber saddle. Almost like a hard frame seat that faces the tree. It will be a game changer.
Probably be able to sit all day with no pain.
No knee pain.
No platform needed. Just a ROS.......
I get what you’re saying and your joke and I generally appreciate your insight as a long time member here but this stuff is just a total derailment of the thread. No comment on the platform, no experience with it to help new users. Just mocking a company you don’t like. Don’t buy it, that’s ok.

Have you tried that on a tree? Looks like a fair option.

It does change the contact points and surfaces, so I‘m curious how it runs. Is there movement or noise with the bottom edge of the post against the platform vice the single point of rounded CF knob? Does the induced leverage from a lower contact position effect it at all?

Expanding on Plebes questions, does the threaded hole go through the post, or is it just a blind threaded hole? For example, could you flip the adjustment bolt around so the know is on the outside of the post?

It’s not a through hole. There is a metal insert the adjuster threads into

I wonder if the creaky noises are from the carbon platform sliding back and forth on the head of that adjuster bolt when it flexes?

Made a quick video, think it’s about 4 minutes, where I put it on the tree and moved around it so people could see how tight it is to the tree, listen for noises, and I took the adjustment screw out at the end to test that too. Hopefully it helps someone or gives a better idea what it is like after it’s broken in a bit but full disclosure, I’m not a professional and neither is my 8 year old cameraman, just a couple dudes in the backyard.

Good video brother, thanks

Man, just like @Zero One Actual said earlier in this thread, it falls on a REAL “saddle hunter” to make a REAL product overview, demonstrating the thing like we would want to see it be demonstrated, no frills or Tethrd cork-soaking. @HuskerInIowa did more with that 4m video than pretty much all the “mobile hunting” product reviews on YT combined.
Dude it actually looked like a respectable piece of hunting equipment in your video. How come none of the other vids so far make it seem so…useable? You didn’t even try to convince us of anything, just showed what the thing does under real normal saddle rigors.
Like, damn man. What a breath of freshness compared to the usual YouTube fare. You and the half-pint camera guy should do more of this stuff.

Thanks man, appreciate the kind words. I’ll pass the message along to him too, he will be proud.
