So a couple of thoughts about some of the great comments.
The small hook works. I played with it a bit before having to leave this morning. I can use the bungee two ways. First, tension when initially clipping it in going up, it then loosens and gets pulled off as I step on the knaider. Problem is on the way down when you first clip it in it can come off very easily, until you tension it.
Second is to clip the bungee somewhere where the clip is always under tension with the bungee. Kind of nice. As you get above the step it flips the hook upside down on the step, but stays hooked up. Makes it easy to unhook. I think
@swampsnyper made a comment about the safety of using a carabiner. I think I agree. I am gonna try the biner again, with the bungee always under the tension. If I can get the biner to flip upside down automatically as I get above the step, then unclipping the biner is a no brainer. And it is safer.
@BassBoysLLP makes a good comment about dangling upside down. So, I am going back to the same loop I have on the Knaider. A big one with something to cinch it. Right now I am using a plastic tie. I can get it tight enough, it slides easily enough, and it should break away if there is a fall. Plus, that way I do not have the webbing squeezing my foot as it does now. My loop for the Knaider was by accident. Little did I know it would add a lot to the comfort and safety.
