Ticks...yet another disease :-(

80 washes (factory) vs. 8 washes (store bought spray). Insect shield will even factory treat a garment you sent in for ~$20.

I wish their garments had some sort of colored tag that would fade after the treatment became inert. Who on earth keeps a record of whether a clothing item has been washed 20, or 40, or 80 times?

So I got prescribed doxycycline and they didn’t want to test the ticks and asked if it was ok to flush them? I should have said no I want them tested but they said since I’m asymptomatic it probably wouldn’t matter!! Healthcare is getting just stupid.
Thats F'd up. Laziness on their part. Id want it for piece of mind.

My wife was on doxy for SIX MONTHS (she had symptoms that weren't treated for 4 months) and I was directed to take doxy for a month...I had no symptoms but the ticks did test positive for lyme, babesia, borrelia.

@Allegheny Tom @woodsdog2 - That's consistent with my experience. My doctor had me take a 100mg tablet of doxycycline daily for 6 weeks the last time I had Lyme disease - and told me to make sure I took all of it, even if my symptoms cleared up much earlier (which they did).

I’m trying to find a summer weight and cool/ moisture wicking shirt of some kind that you can tuck in that you can wear in the woods to prevent the dang things from entering at the waist line. It sucks to tuck a shirt in the warm muggy months. What do you guys use? Of course I’ve treated much of my early season hunting garments with permithrin but trying to find a shirt to use during the summer besides a t shirt. Although spraying with the Picardin seemed to work last week quite well. I’m still paranoid about it though!!

@woodsdog2 - I've been using the Elimitick long sleeve tech shirt when it's hot and humid. It breathes really well, and the insect-shield permethrin treatment on it really keeps the ticks off of you. When I know I'm going to be slipping through mountain laurel or other thick cover between May and September, I suit-up with the bundle - including wearing the head cover and gloves. They offer a 20% discount if you purchase the bundle. (The discount only appears in the final step during check out.) If you don't want their bundle, I think they still offer a discount code to first time buyers that you could use on your first order if you sign up for their email or messaging list. Here's a link to both:

Hanes cool dri long sleeve shirts or any quick dry sun shirt. All the high tech fast dry stuff will eventually saturate like cotton and be a wet sheet clung to ur body but the fancy shirts only take a light breeze and they start drying. Some brands have a hood and thumbholes which I like too

https://rynoskin.com/ You might want to try this stuff. I bought some several years ago so I don't know if the newest stuff is woven the same way but the air goes right thru mine. It almost has a "cooling effect" where it's not covered by an outer layer but where there is an outer layer, it seems to be a decent base layer for insulation. Wear a button-down type shirt and when you start getting hot, unbutton the shirt and it almost seems like air conditioning in the front and acts like insulation where the outer layer covers it. Take off the outer layer and it's total body cooling. It will snag on briars so it's not durable for brush-busting. I especially like the Total Hood for warm weather hunting instead of a head net and I also like it as a base layer for under balaclava in colder weather. Sometimes I will wear it alone while walking to/from stands and then slip on the balaclava after I cool down in the stand. It's so lightweight and thin that you won't even realize when it's stuffed in your pocket.
Like I said, I'm not sure if they've changed the material, or the weave since I bought mine so YMMV, but it almost reminds me of nylon stocking material.

I agree.

Most of my insect shield clothing will get washed less than 10 times/summer (20 max). 4+ years out of a shirt/pants I use to work/scout seems reasonable.

Are you in the south? Sounds perfect for early season

I don't tuck in my shirts and have had no problem. Evidently the permethrin kills them before they can get under shirt....at least so far - for many years - I haven't had a problem with this....

Its way to hot early season for me to tuck my shirt in...I usually have an extra one and take off the one I walk in with once setup in tree and hang for a while with no shirt on to cool off lol .....

A friend at church woke up the other morning with the left side of his face paralyzed so he went to the ER fearing he had a stroke. The docs determined it wasn't a stroke, it was Bell's Palsey and the idiots were about to send him home.
Meanwhile, my friend was on his phone researching the causes for the condition and he saw lyme could be the culprit. So he asked the docs if that was one of the blood tests that they ran and they answered "no". Incompetent idiots! The ran a lyme test and it came back positive. However, a high percentage of lyme tests come back with false results so even when they do test you can't trust the results. If you do get tested, insist on the Western Blot test. It much more accurate.

BTW, Bell's Palsy is also a side effect that's been associated with the Corona jab. So we'll see if the doxy helps my friend recover from the "lymes". If it doesn't work then maybe the results were a false positive and there is another cause.
Don't just naively accecpt a doctor's findings on a diagnosis. You want to seek out a lyme literate physician for treatment. Lymes disease is not to be taken lightly.

Don't forget alpha gal allergy that prevents you from eating meat.

Thanks for the link.
I forwarded it to my doctor for her to read.

Just an FYI guys. My son picked up a Deer tick some where few weeks ago. It was embedded in his ear lobe. My wife sent it in on one of those cutter Lyme checks. It came back positive for Lyme. They estimated it was on for 47 hours. It was a tiny little guy. All though he was showing no signs of sickness ATM. The Doctor is still putting him on an antibiotic to be safe.
Just a reminder to check your self..

How much antibiotics? How long? A month? Please tell me it wasn't for just a few days dosage.
