was wondering about the slipperyness of the carbon rods. With wet muddy rubber boots and no end cap, might this be an issue?

Where the skys are so blue!
I may dip them. I have played with them in the backyard, but haven't hunted yet. So far, there isn't really a difference. My feet are big enough that the bolt head didn't really help with traction anyways.

I'll definitely report back Saturday if all goes well. Should be making an early morning climb with wet, muddy boots.

Here's to hoping I don't gut myself!

Details, man! Details! lol
Post 580 this thread about 20 back, just used a thicker walled tube, grinded down the opening, drilled holes for handle and bit, scavanged drill bit, bolts and handle from broken EZ Kut drill, dipped the opening 3 coats, and spray painted the end that was too long to fit in the plasti-dip container so I don't lose it. It is also 1 inch longer than the original for easier drilling.

I just got back from a three day huntfest. Ez kut is no match for a oak tree. Plain miserable to try and hand drill a oak tree. The wind was blowing hard enough that I could use my dewalt all bundled up in a old sweatshirt. Seemed to work good if the wind is above 15 mph. I use to be afraid of heights when hunting out of treestands. with saddle and bolts im hitting 20 ft on a regular bases. I feel safe using the bolts. They seem indestructible.

I got my carbon steps finish this morning. And I have to say these things are the way to go for the guys who are able to use bolts in the pass. It’s a game changer with this type of climbing.

Just about to dip my bolts. Damn. I want those carbon rods now. You guys are killing me. Do they make noise when you move them around in your hand ? Any flex when you stand on them? Maybe someone can post a video of these.

No flex, these are stiff as hell. good description on noise. They definelty are quiter and less obtrusive sounding than the grade 8 bolts.

Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks, but I'm getting a little flex if I bounce on them.
What kind of an angle are you putting them in at? I have been wearing pretty soft soled shoes when I"ve practiced with them, so maybe I"m not feeling it. I"lll try with some vibram hiking boots this weekend.
