Trust 5mm prusik

I was going to get involved but my head already hurts from reading to here. I’ll just say. “ what he said” :grinning:

Soooo…. What’s the thoughts on 5mm?!
Diameter does not correlate to strength. The Beal Cordelette is 5.5mm and rated MBS Rating (daN): 1800. Get something that strong or stronger, in a diameter between 2/3 and 3/4 the diameter of your rope.

Allot has been covered so far. From knot deficiency to KN but something I teach the men on my crew is “ if it doesn’t look right or it doesn’t feel right, it’s not right.” Sometimes your best judge is your gut.

18 kN is the break strength of Beals 5.5mm with a dyneema core, the one with Kevlar is only rated at 15 kN.

It’s borderline strength wise for my preference, and there’s no cut and heat resistance.
A nice 5mm cord is Beal’s Back Up Line, Kevlar core and nylon and some aramid cover, Wild Line Ropes sells it by the foot.

Forgot about NER’s Tech Cord, cover needs to be loosen, but very strong at 4800 mbs.
