Wow - just wow. I am sorry but the current Aerohunter kestrel owes THIS SITE and its MEMBERS the credit for product design. The sit drag mods and feedback from members on this site did more to develop the kestrel (and even the mantis) then anything else.

I also want to add that I applaud Red - I don't envy your position as moderator at all :)

Red is very upset by all this. He is a good man who just wants to promote saddle hunting. His web site has brought us all together. Thank you SCOTT for all you do for hunting, specifically Saddle Hunting. You guys have brought my confidence back after my fall several years ago. Thank you all.

I agree with many people in this thread, and personally, I own a Kestrel and also ordered a Mantis, I really want to just enjoy hunting from saddles and welcome all the new products that will make our passion easier and more accessible to others. In my opinion, Bobby and Aerohunter have done and will continue to do some great things with the Kestrel but I also feel what Tethrd brought to the market was a completely dedicated saddle hunting website that would supply every product a new saddle hunter would ever need (except for climbing method but I think that is next). This is a huge step for the saddle hunting and will ensure continued growth. Both these companies need not be concerned as much about fighting for the 1% of hunters that are already sold on saddle hunting but concentrate on the other 99% who need a more than one successful saddle company to convince them to try something as far outside the box as saddle hunting is perceived.

Perfect thoughts. Businesses can either think in growth and abundance or decline and scarcity. There are some people who will like the looks of one over the other. I personally am looking forward to the mesh kestrel and held off on the mantis. If any of these companies want to spread they will have to be active in getting in front of media groups and showing the product.

I don’t even think that is the first thread about it either. I bet if someone went back they would find another couple of threads along the same lines. One older than the other.
That was swampsnypers build and I think he mentioned mesh first In THAT thread.

Is this pissing contest over yet?

Both look to be great products, make your decision and buy what you want for what ever your reason may be. Good luck to both New Tribe and Tethrd, this is proof that if you continue to make great products you will continue to sell them!

Now who wants a Hang Time shirt?? :)

Hey @DaveT1963 my pissing contest was not directly meant for you, but the entire debate. I am just hoping we can start to move on from it and get back to what is the norm around here at SH.

No worries - I took no offense. we will get past this. However, when someone bares false witness against someone, attacks their good name by basically and publicly calling them a "thief" falsely, I am going to call them out.

Just so some truth can actually be shed on the debate who was fist, who copied who, etc........

http://www.saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/new-saddle-build.1489/

Like I said above, anyone that thinks the new kestrel is a product of one person's great innovative mind is sipping some strong kool aid.

Personally I think RED gets the credit for both designs for if He had not created this site neither would be what they are today.

I also still have a MESH saddle G2 made for me (based off a sitdrag design) long before the ORIGINAL kestrel even came out. I contacted him and asked him to make me a net saddle since I did not like to sew - and He did.

Please don't forget @kenn1320 4 months before that. Met up with him not too long after, he got me out of the EVO and into light weight! Great guy.

I guess I don't want to be confused about the issue either. I don't like intellectual theft. So if there is none it is good to know. After watching @bowhunter15 s video I wondered when the mesh idea started. I loved the video by the way. I really do not care for all the negative comments either but if there is no reverse engineering or stolen ideas I am good with both companies. Most of the staff at New tribes have been great.

I don't believe that anything about either saddle is completely original - just modifications of other ideas. No plagiarism... that is important to me because I really do not care to buy a stolen idea.
I am sure because of the threads on this issue that the original accusations are false. So yes I would like to move on too. Buy where you get the best product for you, the best service, the best price and I hope both companies are wildly successful.
I own a size 1 and 2 kestrel and ordered a mantis and I am happy with my decisions.

I don't like intellectual theft.

Everything was exchanged openly and freely in a public forum. Honestly nobody here can claim theft. At least nothing that would hold up in a court of law. What's going with the DIY and exchange of ideas on this forum is similar to open source or creative commons contribution for software. Extremely permissive licensing and free and open (transparent) exchange of ideas and improvements to source material... Generally speaking the only claim you can really make with that type of licensing is attribution (ie: This person did that thing.).

If anything @redsquirrel might be able to claim ownership over everything here considering he pays for and is the site administrator. You might want to revise your EULA Scott! LOL!

Yep. I agree with @DaveT1963 on this one. I love my Kestrel and Sophia @ newtribe came on and spoke with much grace and poise. I was impressed.. Then a few others ranted and I was unimpressed....

I appreciate the all the work that New Tribe has done as well as all the work Tethrd has put into improving concepts. These are concepts that many on the forum have contributed to. No pissing match needed!

I will support both companies as long as they can act in a decent manner.

I agree, especially if there are no patents no laws are broken. But even if something seemed to be copied legally... and I don't think anything was I would be reluctant to buy the copy in good faith. I think the discussion was profitable for me to make an informed decision about the integrity of both companies and I have no problem with either. However some accusations were made by at least one of the pro staff at New tribes maybe not representing the views of New Tribes.
As heated as the discussion was I am glad I am more informed now.

The mesh idea started with James Green.

Too bad he did not patent it. Who is James Green??? The trophyline inventor.
Some of us newer saddle hunters don't know what Huck and Dave T know... Maybe 60 years of saddle hunting between them.
