I’m working on getting better at my plants and trees. Anyone know what type this is?

Could Be black birch. Next time your up in one break off a small green twig and if it smells like birch beer. Then it's black birch. Nice to chew on too. If it smells and tastes bitter probably a cherry but not a black cherry.
 
I’m always trying to identify trees in the woods. We should have a section just for this. Post pic of tree, bark, leaves, and fruit. Would be a cool go to spot to look up and learn from.

Cool! I'm gonna try that next time I find one. I was just looking at some photos and I think it might be a black birch.
