I picked one up a couple months ago and am finding it super comfy. Probably be looking for an original backband to tryout at some point too, though I"m not sure its necessary.

Who else is still using one of these? I know people consider them "bulky" and "having too many straps" but I really like the adjustability so far, and its no where as near as bulky as some other options. For those still using them, why havent you upgraded? and for those who ditched it and moved on, why?

Thanks!

Sold mine after trying it for a couple months, happy it's gone.
Cons:
-Huge/heavy compared to modern saddles
-the only way to get comfortable is to loosen straps up to the point that it felt dangerous
-loud, metal "paws"
-the leg straps are terrible, so much junk pinching/smashing

Tha ks for the feedback! Hopefully that's not my experience :) ...I've found it quite comfortable just playing around with so far...but you never know.

If you like it you should rock it, saddles are like whiskeys or beers. Just cuz I like one doesn't mean somebody else does. Everyone's butt is different, so if you're comfy keep it till the wheels fall off!

I have to admit, I was never able to dial in the comfort of my Aero EVO when it was my primary saddle. There were just so many adjustments I could never seem to get them all coordinated to where I could get comfortable.

I broke it out of storage a few weeks ago to loan to a friend contemplating a saddle. Before I gave it to him I sat in it for a bit and now was able to adjust it right in so that it was super comfy. After spending a season each in the Kestrel and Mantis I now know exactly what adjustments to make and had it "dialed in" in minutes. I still think it's overkill and too heavy for my normal run and gun hunting style but it might be a good option for all day sits during the rifle season.

I liked mine when I had it. Once you get it dialed in it was comfortable. Only reason I sold it was due to the weight/bulk. You may find more comfort if you cross the leg straps if you find it pinching. I also had the webbing running different through the paws but I don’t remember exactly why. If I still had it I would swap the paws for the Petzl ring and a ropeman like Ernie did back in the day.

I have two ... they are more comfortable and because all of the adjustments pulled as tight as they can go works the best for me , its really no big deal to walk in. I have the kestrel also and the evo is definitely a lot more comfortable. The kestrel is more coat friendly for later in the season hunts and is the only time I use it.

I bought one from the classifieds here last summer. Hunted it all season. Found it comfy. It took only a bit of adjusting but perhaps I got lucky. It's my first saddle and cost is prohibiting me from a kite or mantis. I haven't had the issues with noise from climb paws that the others seem to have. And as far as weight I don't notice it wearing it in. To be fair I have not tried any other saddles to compare it too.

I love it.

I absolutely love my Evo!!! The comfort level and adjustment ability is great. People refer to the weight of it a lot but.......It's nothing compared to a metal stand. Sure its heavier than the newer saddles out but to each their own. I hunt out of my Mantis now but have no complaints about the Evo.

Thanks, were you running it stock?

Yes I was running it stock. I wanted to do a couple mods but life happens and I just haven't gotten around to it. I think you will be happy with the Evo!! Also, I may have a back band if your interested. I like using a band in the Evo.

I was looking at one of these in the classifieds, called Aero Hunter to check on the weight ratings of the plastic buckles and Deb said they only recommend using saddles for 7 years because they start to break down in the webbing? Is that just liability talk? I thought I've heard of people using these for years.

I just sold mine, but it was comfortable. Heavier then i had hoped it would have been. Probably would have used it more if i had found the forum earlier and seen the collaboration of how to deal with some of the issues i ran across. Found the Guido's web more comfortable, easier to use. (although its harder to shoot from with the dual straps.)
another factor for systems wearing out is how it is treated and stored. mine have always been kept in a temperature controlled closet. my older Guido has to me reached its life expectancy. I may try to reverse engineer it. (purchased in 2012, rain and sweat). Butch at Guido's web always said 5 years.

I had one. Sold it. Bought a kestrel. Made a kestrel. Hunted from my kestrel for two seasons. And just picked up an evo in great shape and cheap. Forgot how comfortable it was. I mean I love the kestrel but the evo is in a league of it's own as far as all day comfort. And honestly its not that heavy and bulky. Doesnt take up much more room in my pack than my kestrel. I think I'll run the kestrel in the early season and for short sits but when the rut kicks in and I need to sit all day the evo is going to be my go to. I've never had an issue with noise or the climb paws getting in the way. No more so than a normal bridge. I love the waist band. Almost like a built in back band. If you have a chance to try the evo next to a newer smaller saddle you'll have to agree the comfort is hard to beat.

I used it until the kestrel came out. Once you dial it in for you it is a great saddle. You can use some vet wrap to quiet the metal down. The lineman's loops are the best design ever used on any saddle but they were expensive to make. Weight of a saddle never really mattered to me because I wear it in 99% of the time. Comfort is king for me.

I killed my buck out of mine this past season. I purchased one of the very first aero hunters and ended up adding the retro fit of the evo. I rocked it with the thigh pads for more than a full season before the upgrade was available. Haven't had the opportunity to try an alternative. In stead of getting wrapped up in the minutia of all the different stuff out there. I just use what I need when I need it. Sometimes you just got to dance with who brung you and swing with who swung you. I never cared about the weight. It just works every time in need it to work. I am however looking forward to seeing the new design. I would like to try a more streamline design that is available out there and I kicked around the idea of selling my evo to help finance a newer design. but they seem like a white elephant that nobody even considers based on the flood of different designs that have spawned since. But no doubt its a quality piece of gear that really filled a hole that a lot of folks were wanting filled.

Would you more experienced guys Please describe the adjustments you are talking about to make it more comfortable.Just trying to gather all the info I can for when mine comes in.

Man there are so many adjustments on that saddle that it would be hard to tell you where to start. Just hang in it at ground level and let your body tell you what needs tightened or loosened. Then just stand on the ground and adjust then hang some more. Cant do it hanging 20 feet up. I start with the waist band. You want just enough length away from the climb paws that you can lean back into the waist band comfortably. Then move to the two straps on the back that connect the waist band to the seat. Set those so that the seat is at the perfect height on your butt/lower back. Once those are set I adjust the lower seat straps so that the seat cups my butt a little. And finally the leg straps to get just the right amount of support under my legs. You want to adjust it so that you dont have any pressure points anywhere but plenty of even support. Go in that order and you should get really good comfort pretty quick. There are a ton of adjustment points but that is why I think it really is the best saddle ever made. Tons of support and adjustments without too much bulk.
