Why saddle vs hang on

I still hunted yesterday but brought my saddle and hand climber just in case. Well I walked around for hours comfortably and quietly and found 4 other people’s stands in the process. Felt good thinking no one would ever come across my stuff in the woods cause I can easily carry it with me.

This is the only tree I could get into mobile to adapt to where they were chasing this morning.

I just use both. Best of both worlds. Kind of like having a couch and a recliner. Sit in one, put your feet on the other, and switch when you feel like it.

Some trees its all saddle for me with a bigger platform, some trees its just sitting in the hang on with a really nice harness. But its nice to only have one set up that will always work for me when I need it to, and I don't have to second guess myself on what I grab.

Saddle, sticks, stand, weapon, go.

For me having 2 girls 13 and 11. I can hang my Lone Wolf for them. I can be in my saddle right behind them and help them with their shoot. I would not be able to handle 2 Lone Wolf's. When i hunt alone. The weight and set up time.

I hunted all of September with a sadlle/bolt set up. The amount of trees I could hunt gave me the freedom I never had with a TS. One nite I had a little ten point buck eating leaves rite below me. I was only about ten feet up in a tree about the size of my legs. He never looked up once. I tried my LW climber a cpl of times in trees I have hunted for years. I literally couldn't move because I wasn't strapped in. I love the safety aspect of a saddle.

This is my first year and I've only done two sits so far but I like it a lot. I've got to work on my off side shooting with my recurve though. Too much quick movement for these highly pressured long island deer. Once I learn how to slow it down a little on my platform it will be great. Been practicing so I have gotten a lot better on all the other shot sequences but that one. I love the idea of sneaking into these small woodlots and setting up and nobody knows I'm there. Love the idea that you can get up into the branches and being behind the tree but still looking forward.

Mainly a bulk thing for me. It's easier to be mobile just carrying a backpack as opposed to a treestand that is 20 inches wide and snags on all the crap I walk through. There is a slight weight savings but not really significant. And even with upgraded suspension on a treestand the backpack still carries way more comfortably at the same weight. For me looking at it realistically, the saddle is slightly less comfortable but that ease of mobility is worth the tradeoff.

Really depends on the situation, but I have a loc on windwalker that I use for some archery hunts. That being said, if I am gun hunting I am going to be in the saddle 99% of the time because I like the ability to brace for shots off the tree.

congrats. Pretty cool seeing the all three posts.
Thanks! Just happened to work out. I was concentrating on hunting and not checking my phone all day. Just took a few minutes to check in on the site and that thread was at the top :)
