XOP Platform kits?

My favorite is actually .made from an old lone wolf seat. I warn you though, they are crazy hard to find. It's the one on the right in this picture.

I just stand on the very edge of it most of the time.

For some it is. I have a bunch of platforms in my garage that I'm going to sell because I'm never going to use them. For others they add enough comfort to make the weight difference worth it. In the end it all boils down to personal preferences.

Yes, the pegs around the tree were the plastic ameristeps. There is lots of discussions on here about them. They are discontinued but they pop up in the classifieds quite often so keep your eyes open. You will want to use an over center buckle with them, there is a sticky on that also.

Let me know when you want to sell a platform or 2! I would like to leave some out in the woods this season.

So I have built 3 complete platforms, 2 with the help of Erniepower. I have tried several methods of making the tube not so shinny. I have used black electrical tape that worked pretty well, a green spray paint that did not take to the tube, and then camo tape applied today. What is the best methods that everyone has found so far for concealing the shinny tube?

I haven't had any issue with the rustoleum paint job I did on mine. Just used the camo spray paint in the flat colors.

There is no other way imho the stuff I have been around and used with stealth strips there is no better way. Camo's everything and makes it quite at the same time.
I used to use the rubber roof paint from Walmart on my loc on stands but the cleaning process so the paint would stick was ridiculous

Degrease and remove all residue from the aluminum .Dont use any steel bristle brushes or iron oxide sandpapers. Clean with an aluminum cleaner /conversion coating (Sherwin Williams W4K263 or equivalent). Do not omit this step even if your using a self etching primer. Apply an epoxy zinc chromate primer (Sherwin Williams GBP 9870/981)to the bare aluminum per mfg instructions. Apply primer surfacer after proper flash time. Cleaning with vinegar and water will work if conversion coating isnt available but shouldnt it be reduced 1part vinegar 3parts water. I have heard of doing it this way but never tried it myself. The funny part of all this is that you only need 2 mils of the zinc primer to be effective . You can actually see the aluminum thru some brands of primer.

It won't sell for that price. And, for that kind of money... you could have several diy platforms. All of which are lighter, and more stable than the lone wolf assassin.

I posted a way to use a buckle earlier, let me see if I can find it. Basically, you use a very small runner to hold one side of the buckle.

I just got my platform put together (thanks @Erniepower !). I was able to use the stepp knot with the longer piece of amsteel that came with the kit. Just took a couple times watching the SteppLadder Instructional Video from the wild edge youtube to get the knot down. Only tested it a couple times on my deck 4x4 before the mosquitos chased me in, but seems super solid, though that knot is pretty minimal looking for sure.

Ernie, you are being summoned by a new member inquiring about a platform!!!!! Don't let this opportunity escape you sir. Check the "Welcome" forum.

What size square tubing did you use?

Tracker - that is an Ernie Powers stand. It utilizes the XOP seat and then Ernie does the hardware. All I did was the aftermarket spray painting after I put it all together according to the very easy directions to Ernie provides.
