Things that I carry that I could do without. Doyels hoist, whistle, grapple hook, extra biner, extra friction hitch, extra flashlight, Benadryl/small first aid kit, bug head net, rangefinder, trail markers, thermacell.
Of those things, I've never used the extra flashlight or the whistle while out hunting.
The extra biner and friction hitch rarely get used but gives me the ability to rope climb if that situation presents itself....like if I already climbed up and hunted that morning and I wanna go eat lunch. I rappel down leaving my rappel rope. After I return I can add the hitch and rope climb back up or if I need to get into a tree with a really large base that my climbing method attachment won't reach around but there is a limb not to high up (think large live oak)....I can throw my grapple hook over the limb and rope climb up. Very little extra carry weight that adds a bunch of versatility
While all the other things are luxury items that aren't "really" needed, I don't mind carrying that stuff cause it is either a useful tool or makes my life easier/more comfortable
