Youtube is dead

Sling on a rod or stick? Been sorta curious about that but havent looked into it.
Probably a shepherd's sling. Same concept but different design from the balearic sling.

Y'all ever watch Catman Outdoors?

I saw him on YT a couple years ago, he was squirrel hunting from a canoe. He's a meat hunter. I think we might be related, absolutely love watching that kid. He's a doe-killing machine, donates his deer to Hunters for the Hungry.

He’s one of the few that I can watch. He shows actual woodmanship. He has a whole video on identifying different oak trees and acorns.

Yes, fan here as well. I think he might have been a member here at some point, not sure if still active/what his username is. There's an older thread or two where members were posting their channels or favorite videos.

Edit- here's the thread. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/favorite-youtube-hunting-channel.27784/

Also looks like catman is still somewhat active on here but I'll let him out himself if he wants to. Don't want to go angering the local celebrities and all lol. His recognizing different types of oaks video is one of the reference videos I return to over and over.

I think THP sort of lost that when they got big enough to hunt 24/7 and all moved to premier whitetail states. When you have to get interns "and actually call them interns" that should be a clue you are straying from the formula that got you there in the first place.

To be fair, they had an intern the first season, Brody (aka corndog) who makes hunting videos with his twin brother now. Their YouTube channel is called Whitetail instinct. THP has been based out of Iowa since the beginning. The first season, they hunted every day, then would record their post-hunt recap conversations and release them as podcasts almost every single day, along with the YouTube videos. Man I miss those early THP semi-live style podcasts, felt like you were part of the crew...

Yes I find myself not watching YouTube like I used to. I hate the ads and I also liked the older days of THP. I find myself skipping them more than watching. I still watch all of Catman’s. Just something more down home about his. I also blame Covid and THP for the explosion of idiots I see in the woods now trying to turkey hunt. But that’s part me too being selfish and wanting it to be like it was in 2019 lol.

Very cool, had no idea he was on here. Watching his videos is one of the things that got me to try saddle hunting.
