Complicated. All weight on one foot as you slide up each aider, tether and lineman belt. Lots of time if you come across branches.

Just a lot of moving parts, I've tried something like this, and it's a pain.

I hunt with a single aider quite a bit. I think it would be way easier with one aider and rappel down.

What about something like this where make a step that would attach with a biner then you hook your saddle to a tether and hook the “step” into another tether. I’m going to try this out, so see if I can make it more viable

Too many lightweight climbing options out to deal with the slow and strenuous climbing with just an aider IMO. It certainly CAN work and maybe in some situations it would be useful to know how to do.

It will work but I'd be concerned about kickouts. I like climbing with my 1 aider because its just a quick step back onto something solid.

Where the skys are so blue!
My luck is I'd go to try that and some fella in a leafy suit would be sitting back snorting coffee out his nose 10ft away.

I get the appeal, but I'm yet to see a feasible all-aider/no metal climb.

I’ve seen both of those videos and have been thinking about doing it but red squirrel the kickouts scare me but that was my thought with adding be linemans belt. Been using lone wolf and muddy steps for years and want to try something different or lighter. Really digging those wild edge steps with the aider

I really like the WE steps with the aider/knaider option. I can get a little over 5 feet per step. I didn't find the knot that complicated nor getting them to cam.

I don't think the lineman's belt is really going to stop the kick out.

Probably too much going on there. Have you seen the palm tree climbers use two ropes? Super unsafe, but maybe if you were able to tether onto one of the leg ropes somehow for a safety back-up? I thought about it but not enough to try it.

I have tried something like it but had difficulty moving my ropes up the tree smoothly. It worked but was a lot of work. Below are a couple videos of guys who are practiced and fast and use something similar to your drawing. I’ve thought of making two slings like in the video but I’m not sure what is the best type of rope, and other things for the slings like what would be comfortable under the knee. My climbing rope doesn’t work well for this. One tried that. Here’s a couple of videos of something I’ve wanted to build and try.

I think I've tried all of these, they are very difficult, they can be done, I just wasn't willing to put in the practice to make them work. The 2 rope palm tree climbers have very stiff rope, I thought my stiff rope might work....wrong, it needs to be very stiff. Not really sure what to tell ya. The aider with a tether seemed to work pretty well, I made the Sam Potter stick and tried it and quickly gave up... Good luck, nothing costs much so give it all a try and report back, it's possible I've missed something!

I'm sure this method could work for you young bucks... But for an ol' "mature" buck like myself, I would spend so much energy just trying to get up the tree I wouldn't be able to draw my bow if I had the chance!
