Chest rig

Does anyone use some sort of chest rig like this guy in the photo? I personally like the idea of having everything organized and positioned in front of me, easily accessible. I never really liked hanging a backpack from the tree. Made it a pain in the a** trying to get into it to get something.

I used a molle "battle belt" with a shoulder strap and camelback system for turkey season this year. Had a few different pouches around the battle belt to hold everything and it worked awesome! was even able to attach a seat cushion.

So, I was thinking of going the same route with a molle style chest rig for deer hunting. I was wondering if anyone else does something similar and how well it works? Maybe use a turkey vest or something?
Thanks! wild-edge-inc-steppladder-2.jpg

I was wondering the same thing i tried to find something similar with no luck its hard see the brand name on it too

I think that is called a pack rabbit or something along those lines.

Hill people gear has some cool chest rigs. I have been thinking about getting one

Following this...

I've thought about it for awhile now and I'd really like to dump my backpack. Even looked into the pack rabbit setup pictured... just can't picture myself spending that much on one. Most everything I take into the woods in a pack is very light weight (rattle bag, calls, gloves, balaclava). I just can't find the right chest rig though and I don't want to attach more crap to a saddle.

I was going to use a chest rig from Condor. They don't make specifically hunting gear. Its more tactical gear for guys who play airsoft or paintball, I think. But they're fair priced and you can customize the pouches to what you want or need.

You can build one yourself for way less than that price...

True. Been looking at the Condor MCR6 and wondering if I can get it hiked up high enough on my actual chest to clear my bridge while on tree. That particular model intrigues me because it has the integrated pouches with molle if you want to add stuff on later.

I got one to try this season. Seems decent.

I was looking at the MCR5 with the bib (for a bino case) and the camelback system that can go with it. IDK if it would affect the bridge or not. What I'm wondering is how much of a pain in the a** it will be to take it off while up in the tree to put on another layer or jacket to stay warm.

Funny. That just reminded me of @g2outdoors recent video about how to put on a jacket in the saddle. Hilarious!

I’ve got a Condor chest rig set up with mags and whatnot but this seems like a better practical use for it. I forget what model I I have been it there is a ton of room. The upper chest portion even folds down behind it if you’re not utilizing the space.

The only issue I see would be adding/removing layers

Doing this:
https://saddlehunter.com/community/...nt-blocker-thunder-chicken-turkey-vest.12699/

It has pockets I can fit my wraptor sling, grunt tube, rattle bag, water bottle, hand warmers, and range finder in, easily. The game pocket on the back will hold a predator platform easily. Whole thing is very light.

I removed the detachable seat and sewed a row of molle loops across the bottom of the back to attach sticks when climbing. The only want I have left is a frame pack or maybe a DIY webbing rig for carrying out a quartered deer.

I've debated this as well. I currently use a hunter safety muff pack for carrying gear in (not sticks, platform, or stand), and I normally hang it diagonally across my chest. If I stay with this same setup I plan to just use my tether to do the same with my sticks and platform, but diagonally across my back. If using my M7, I will just attach the sticks to the stand.

I have been eyeing this thing for the past couple of days though to replace my muff pack...https://slumberjack.com/pursuit-realtree-max1/

Not real expensive either - hope this helps someone!

Try fishing chest soft tackle packs - way cheaper just as functional. personally, I don't like anything sticking out in front of my chest when shooting a bow.

If any one wants to get the pack rabbit vest use coupon code “DEALFORME” it brings it down to $99.99 good till 5/26

Pulled the trigger on a Condor MCR3 last night. Should be here tomorrow (gotta love Amazon). Think I'll be able to get it cinched up high enough on my chest to clear my bridge. Comes with 3 internal pouches and a pile of molle rows. I like the idea of being able to add pouches if I deem them necessary in the future. Just couldn't see myself happy with fixed pouches like a pack rabbit or a turkey vest.
