Ditch the Ropeman

So the carabiner needs to fit through that small end? Am I missing something? Is they keychain loop also needed?

Edit.. I see @Red Beard 's pic showing the paracord.

Just experimented hanging full body weight from the trusses in my garage, bounced around in the saddle a few times for good measure, and the little 75 cent nylon spacer worked perfectly.

Main rope is 8mm static climbing rope, 5mm prussik cord, 1/2 x 3/8 spacer

Glad I never purchased a Ropeman to actually ditch, but I see this as being superior in every way.
Looks like eBay and the Archery Buy/Sell pages will be littered with RM1’s! great stuff man! Thank you

What is a good alternative to the beal jammy for use on 9mm htp and 8mm oplux? I dont care for the purple color. Call me crazy.

The two 50 cm I just got in the mail from backcountry are black. I think each size may be a different color but don't quote me on that.

Any specific brand that is more earth tone or neutral that will work or is the beal jammy the strongest for its 5.5mm size?

The 60cm Jammy is the same purple color. I'll know on Thursday about the 50cm.
The Jammy is the strongest in its size (5.5mm) that I'm aware of.

How much length is needed for a proper distel hitch?

I am currently awaiting my cordage to replace my ropeman with this.. I am wondering about the length needed for a distel as well...

Just curious has anybodies ropeman ever failed on this page while using it with as a tether or linemans belt? They were the best thing since sliced bread last year and this year they are unsafe.

I have not. I don't think anyone on this site has. I will continue to use a mechanical device (Duck) on my lineman rope this year which is OpLux. However, I have no need of a device on my tether as I don't adjust it much. An $11 Jammy and $1 Kong mini figure 8 is all I need.

I will be climbing either one stick method and/or with my LWHC this season. Both which introduce a lot of slack in my tether. Im 250 lbs, if I have a kick out or the LW fails, that is a lot of force on a RM1 which it is not rated for. Will it happen who knows, but I owe it to my family to not push that envelope. Therefore, I am switching to a more safe method with a distel hitch using the beal jammy for my tether. Hopefully it tends as easy as a RM1 as the LWHC method requires me to adjust at least twice per tether move. I shall see. Also, is it a sickness if you use your safety/family as an excuse to fuel the S.H.E.M.S.?

Tonight I took a 35cm beal jammy and carefully "unstitched" the sewn section. It is just long enough to be used as a distel or schwabisch on 8mm oplux. I'll post a pic.
