Brand spankin new to the site and also to saddle hunting itself. I'm wondering what all you guys are running for knee pads? Right now I'm using a pair I found laying around the shop and they SUCK.. they suck to walk in and they're uncomfortable. Thanks in advance for any and all information!

I just bought some soft AWP's Sunday from Lowes and they worked but they are Velcro and if my legs rubbed together the Velcro would grab and make noise. Comfy to wear in and comfy for a short sit with knees on the tree as I don't sit like that the whole time. They can be put on under the pants too. Also they were 10 bucks. That said I am going to try some hard material ones later. Edit...........now that I said that I should have put them on with the velcro attachemts on opposite sides duh.......

General consensus around here is that the arc'teryx kneecaps are the bee's knees. However they come at a premium, for some it's worth the price (myself included) for others not so much.

Check out the Trophyline pads.

I have the arctyrex knee pads and a cheap pair.

The arctyrex are light and packable but offer less cushion on the tree. Not sure I would get them if I had to do it over.

I am hoping I like the trophy line. They seem comfortable so far, but I havn't been in a tree in them. I don't like the arc'teryx because they have hard caps that can make loud noises against a tree.

I have the original version of the Trophyline and also Arc'teryx knee pads. They are both great. Like the post above says Trophyline is selling them again. Excellent deal and you better snatch them up before they are gone again.

I have a cheapo pair from Harbor Freight and they work just fine for me. They're plastic at the kneecap which really helps when you're resting

I've been browsing amazon and there is quite a selection of pads on there. Does anyone have any experience with any of those??

Just hunted in these thru the weekend...they're really comfortable.

I use a set I had from mountain biking, cover your shins and knees with a hard plastic, the backs and joints are all flexible material
they really work well, fit under my hunting pants and stay in place

I have some cheap foam knee pads that work great in the tree but are not so hot walking through brush. With only 1 strap holding them on,leaves and branches kept getting caught and tried to pull them off. I bought some of the trophy line ones but haven't tried them or yet. I don't like the hard cap style.... Imo they noisy and slide on the bark. I use my knee as the pivot point as i rotate around the tree so i want pads that grip

I just ordered some of these and a pouch. Shipping is kind of steep at $10. But it's still cheaper than what they go for on the classifieds. I just like the idea of sticking some essentials in the pouch and leaving my pack for quick hunts.

Not these:

It's not that they are bad but they are simply too pointed at the knee caps to be useful on a tree. You want protection that allows you to rest your knees against the tree without turning away. Look for something that has a broad cushion rather than hard caps.

I think I'm gonna try those TLs.
They sure look comfy to me. Gel is always nice.
