I’ve gone back and forth a hundred times about buying a Mantis, and I think I’m finally going to bite the bullet when their Black Friday discount starts at 9pm EST tonight. I’m also planning to buy the Recliner and Sys Hauler ES. Might even buy a Predator if I’m feeling crazy... UNLESS you talk me out of it in the next 1.5 hours... Thoughts?

Other question is what size. I’m 6’3, 165 lbs., and I hunt in TN. The Tethrd website suggests medium is right for me, but I’m on the fence. It seems like having a too-big saddle would be much better than a too-small saddle. I also suspect a Large would be easier to resell if I don’t love it (brand new to saddle hunting). Any insights there??

Do it!

What is your waist size

You won’t regret the Predator either. I also hunt in Tennessee and it’s by far my favorite mobile hunting setup I’ve tried yet.

Everyone is shaped a little differently but I'm 5'8" 150# and if I had it to do over again, I'd buy a large.

At this point in the game, dont let someone talk you into or out of trying gear. You can recoup your money for sure if you decide it's not what your looking for. You cant go wrong with any of the saddles on the market right now, they each have small nuances that make them unique but any will do the trick! The mantis saddle is a great choice. I personally use a aerohunter kite, its comparable to the mantis, but a tad heavier. I think you are spot on about sizing, go with a large, it accommodate heavier winter clothes, a bit better, and the market for resale is not difficult regardless of size.... get your behind in a saddle, start getting experience, and start developing your own setup!

I have a Trophyline and a Mantis and I like them both. I do like the Mantis a little more. Comfortable and the adjustable leg straps keep it from sliding up when sitting for extended hunts. The only thing that I would change would be the bridge. Mine measures 30" and put a 1" climbing rated tubular strap bridge on measuring 24" and it allows me to set my tether lower and is more comfortable for me. Very well thought out system. I have the micro adjusters and they work well for me, a SYS hauler and SYS hauler ES. Design, materials and workmanship are first rate.

@catman529 Thanks for the advice! I'm about a 32 or 33" waist. My dad and I are huge fans of your videos, by the way. Your explanation about how to tell whether a squirrel or a deer ate an acorn was super helpful.
