Just curious on what you think some of the most sought after saddle hunting accessories are. This could range from beast sticks, to and actually saddle, to a light weight pack or a platform, a pull up rope, or climbing device....

Or is there things out there that you guys have but wish were better or more affordable.

I know for me right now it would have to be a lighter weight self filling set up.

Wondering what you guys thoughts are on this.

Ropeman1 especially when they are out of stock. People were selling them for like $80-$90 ea on fb a couple months ago.

I guess my Yarak and beast sticks might be a sought after items.

I don’t thick anyone has made the perfect climbing stick yet. They are all just lacking something...

I have been posting some poorly worded posts today and can't believe how stupid they sound after I read them. I must be tired. :D
Maybe it's not only me.
What is a lighter weight self filling set up? Is that a saddle that puts itself on you or a pack that fill itself up with all your hunting and climbing gear?

For me, the saddle hunting obsession is about over. There's so much gear out there that's infinitely better than what I used to use. I have multiple setups, all of which have pros and cons, but all of which are comfortable, easy to pack, and easy to use.

I have an awesome "bow" in the hickory creek mini. I have an awesome rifle. I have awesome water access and clothes. I personally don't really want anything else gear wise.

But, I think folks are still chasing the perfect stick. Not sure what that is, but folks sure do want it.

I hate to hijack... but did you ever get the set of LWCG sticks you ordered? How good do they pack on the ambush? What’s the setup weigh?

I'm Happy w/all my gear except maybe a better boot than LaCrosse. Also that perfect pack that carries sticks and snacks and weighs nothing and costs , well nothing would be good. Seems like everyone is swapping packs, trying to find a perfect one. Other than boots and a pack, I think I'm set w/all my other gear. I'm not big on buying new just because its out there.

When you say the obsession is about over for you, are you saying you hunt with other set ups besides a saddle? Just asking because seems like anyone that’s into saddle hunting basically uses nothing else going forward.

I got a saddle this year and I do like it quite a bit, but at the same time I’m not getting rid of my hang on stand. I even have a climber that I have posted for sale but part of me is tempted to just keep it too. I know you only need one way to get up and sit in a tree but having variety tends to keep things interesting for me.

I'm pretty much at the end of my journey.

I'd buy a platform sized what I think is ideal (12ish wide x 15ish deep).

I might buy Infalt's treestand if it ever comes out and is narrow enough to carry well.

I don't think I'll buy another saddle, Flex has it nailed for me.

Although some of the new stick options are kinda "neato" it's more in a novel sense. I don't see any of them cost-benefit displacing my modded Helium sticks.

I'd like to see more concerted effort and testing to get a better idea what tethers/ascenders are equipped to handle. I think a SH specific ascender designed and tested to handle 8-9mm ropes with some safety/idiot factor built in would be great.

I chased/tried the perfect stick setup and gave up after the third set. They all suck.

My last and 4th set 17” LWs were sold to free up some cash. They were the best ones I have found.

I mean I'm done obsessing and tinkering. I think once you get to the point where you have sub 5lb rigs, setups you can hang dark to dark in with nothing but boredom to bother you, etc. that it's time to focus on other things.

I kept my stands for the first couple of years, but am probably 90% saddle or ground hunting and have been for 3 or so years.

What do you use to get up a tree now if you sold everything?

Gotcha. Makes sense.

saddles are just one tool for killing things. I hunted out of a box blind, a ghillie suit and a lock on this year as well - whatever was the best for the situation or already where I wanted to be... I'm still messing around with my preferred climbing methods and I don't yet have the perfect saddle for me - maybe the ATA craze will reveal what I need - other than that, I'm outfitting my two teen sons to be able to hunt this way.

I think the LW assassin for me is most sought out. I have come across a couple but at a crazy price that I am not willing to pay. But I do inquire every time I see one!

In theory if the LWCG Ambush was built correctly it should easily out perform the assassin. It’s nearly half the weight! But they whiffed last time up at bat. I hope this run it’s a homerun! Hopefully in 2 weeks I will find out.

Seeing the Assassin listed for sale at $600+ I was dumbfounded! And they sell quick!!! I think the price has come down to like $400-450 but still.... that’s high!!!!

I'm always looking for the lowest weight most user friendly way up the tree. Gadgets are ok and to me a saddle is a saddle.... manufacture and different styles of saddles are all pretty much the same thing to me. I haven't seen the prefect platform yet either
