Thanks for all the responses guys. I'm definitely going to chew on it some. I can't travel, sadly. Wife would be very unhappy, and I probably would be too after the new wore off. I like her and our happy shack on the riverside. But my costs and standards of living are pretty low, so that helps. As does the lack of kids.
I'd ideally like to run my own business, be an independent contractor, or be self employed in some manner. I get bored easily, and I really chafe under authority. Two personal shortcomings that I genuinely try to overcome, but am beginning to wonder if I shouldn't just figure out a way to avoid. My dad and I had a conversation a few years back where he mentioned he chose his career because he also can't stand doing the same thing everyday. Stuck with me. Why fight something if you can make it a non-issue? Is an alcoholic weak because he refuses to eat dinner at a bar every night?
I'm starting to envision owning a few rental properties, maybe writing a few books, and doing a few other things that kinda generate relatively passive income.
