H2 vs tethrd?

I might be wrong but i think squirrel was asked to test the phantom for tetherd along with alot of others to give feedback..pretty sure i read that somewhere along the many phantom threads..either way pretty cool if you ask me

How could you hunt out of a phantom for a season

Did you get a free saddle

I received a Phantom for testing. Receiving something for free doesn’t make you a pro staffer. If that’s true there are a lot of Federal and State government pro staffers all over the country.

If you are trying to say I am biased you are barking up the wrong tree (I’m not implying that you are, just a disclaimer). If I didn’t like the saddle I wouldn’t say I did. I mentioned two other saddles I didn’t care to much for, one of those from the same manufacturer as the Phantom. Everyone likes different stuff and should use what they like regardless of who it’s made by or what others opinions are. Guys need to figure out stuff by experience. The famous quote “you can get a pretty good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a bull’s @$$ or you you could just take the butchers word for it” doesn’t apply when it comes to finding the right saddle.

Seems like a suspect tear down Of a competitor. The waist belt on the mantis was not great
As many Tethrd pros have said. I cut leg straps off. The lineman’s loops on the H2 could be better. For $100 it is not a deal breaker

What did I say about any saddle company??

The phantom may be better. I just wonder why it is better. Leg straps? How many Tethrd pros cut them off Waist belt. What is special about it. I am skeptical. I cannot tell if you are biased. I was asking because Tethrd pros will promote one product and nothing else

I’m taking the route of organizing a meetup in my area so I can try them all and decide for myself what is comfortable. I encourage others to do the same instead of looking for others to tell you which one is better. Gets like minded outdoorsmen and women together for an afternoon to learn and put their hands on some great hunting systems. This doesn’t have to always turn into a who came first or whose is better pissing match. Just get out into the outdoors in something that works for you and have fun.

Fair enough. I will tell you what I like about it if you care to hear. The thing doesn’t ride up on ME at all. The other two saddles I owned did, badly. The shape of it keeps it from doing that. Next, the lineman’s loops are nice. You just have to use them to understand really, it’s hard to explain. The leg loop hookup points are in a much improved location. They are not trying to choke the boys all the time and I can actually walk in the saddle with the leg loops hooked up. I generally prefer a wider webbing waist belt but being able to cinch the bridge down all the way helps with that a little. I’d still like a wider waist belt but that’s a personal preference for most of us. I hunted with the comfort channels in the neutral position 99% of the time, so there’s that.

I received the H2 last week and the phantom today. I have not had enough time in either to make a fair decision yet but i will say they are equally comfortable and it will come down to small things in which way i decide to go. My initial thoughts are: i think the triad bridge on the h2 edges out the comfort channels on the phantom, the phantom linemens loops are awesome and i wish every saddle from here on out comes with them, the h2 linemens loops flat out suck, the leg strap hookups are better on the phantom as they stick out more to make for easier hookup. Once i get more time in each i will post some more findings but these are my initial thoughts. I will say they both are better in my opinion than the kestrel and mantis i had last season.

I like and trust your review. You got both saddles after the release date
I know it takes saddle sit time to really evaluate them. But good initial impressions

Have you had the phantom for a long time. Are you a Tethrd pro
The lineman's loops are small on the H2. The leg loops seem fine on the H2..if you use them. ... and if the phantom has that little belt that the mantis has... I know what I would choose. Explain the differences. Is the belt bigger now. Does it tighten or loosen easier. Explain.
Is it worth $100 extra for the financially challenged

Nope I am not a Tethrd Pro, actually made a video where I stated I wasn't sure the phantom was an upgrade from my kestrel, but the poster didn't ask about a kestrel he asked about the H2. I have only had the phantom for a little over a week. The belt on the H2 only adjusts on one side and H2 uses a cobra buckle, I prefer the raptor buckle. I personally don't freaking care what people hunt out of just as long as they hunt.

The two saddles are different so to try and compare is a little unfair, both styles are very comfortable but they do differ so it really comes down to what you want from a saddle, if you climb srt or DRT you don’t need linesman’s loops so the H2 is a good option others may prefer the stiff loops on the phantom if they climb and they will stay exactly the same position for easy hook up.
As stated the lower leg loops make the phantom very nice to walk in and the mesh is very quite and I would not have an issue with walking in with the phantom.
The cordura is a little noisier but I usually carry mine in my pack and put it on at the tree so a H2 would be fine for me.
The comfort channels on the phantom are not needed for me as I find the bridge works for me dead central others may need extra adjustment both saddles have adjustment to help here.
for me travelling I really like the mesh saddle as it packs really small, a cordura saddle is a little bulkier and with pouches does not pack down the same, others might not have an issue but for me all my bow hunting is abroad so every little space is needed.
The one thing I don’t like from the H2 is it is only single layer, so you sit on the shinier side of material, this might not be an issue to others for me I needed double layer but it makes it bulkier still.
both styles though don’t ride up like other saddles so they stay comfortable for longer sits.
So what I am saying is there are many good features in both styles and each persons view may differ, I have a friend who does not want a mesh saddle but likes the phantom linesman loops so wants me to knock up a kestrel style saddle which incorporates the loops and the lower leg straps so he can have the best from both saddles, saddles will keep evolving and people will think of new things to try, there will always be people who want the latest saddle and others who are happy or can’t afford to keep getting the latest one.
Me I like both styles both are great styles both have quality you can see that just by looking choose either and I would guess you won’t be disappointed with either one, regards Wayne

A fair review with details. Not just rah rah phantom every day. The H2 is a good saddle and I have high expectations for the phantom.

So. I bought an H2. I havent been in a phantom so I cant really compare. My early thoughts though..... Great Product. Great Price. Great service. It LOOKS like the phantom bridge comfort channels will adjust easier on the fly. The adjustments on the H2 Lock up pretty tight, But- once you have your settings figured out - I think your fine. Just playing in my yard,, but wow its comfy! The bridge is nice. The knot on it is a real treat if you undo it by mistake...(dont ask) Very happy with my purchase. I totally "get" the appeal of this gear now, more than ever. Very good product!

I’ve been spending a lot of time going back and forth between my H2 and Phantom this week...several hours at a time in each and then switching. I’m seriously on the fence about selling the Phantom and keeping the H2. I installed the Triad bridge this week and it’s very hard to tell which saddle is more comfortable. I do know this, the Phantom, rides up for me and the H2 cups my hind quarters better. Phantom vs H2 w/ the standard bridge and the Phantom wins in the comfort department. The Triad really takes the H2 to another level and it’s right there with the Phantom...though for me, the H2 has beat the Mantis and Kestral Flex for comfort. I’m seriously thinking my H2 is winning. One other thing I don’t like about the Phantom is that when adjusted for max comfort on me, I can get a fist between the waist band and my backside. When the H2 is adjusted for max comfort...it cups and stays close. That makes me feel safer.

Take my review with a grain of salt as it’s my opinion only and I’ve had two Buffalo Trace whiskeys this evening!
