It seems to me like the rubber meets the road when it's dark out and you're trying to use a throw bag to get over a limb. I'd work on that next to see if you'd actually like SRT. It looks like a really nice climbing method, but I've done enough bear bagging to know I will probably never try SRT.

Throw line is definitely a challenge, but do-able i think. Not in the dark dark but grey light is ok.

SRT Has always intrigued me as a climbing method....... but dealing with a throw bag in the dark has always turned me off..... also if a limbless tree is in the perfect spot you can’t climb because there is no limb to throw the rope over.

That's where presets come in if you want to hunt early. Afternoon hunts you just need to go in earlier to setup

Word of caution on the presets. When you're pulling your climb/throwline out of the tree with your paracord attached...tie off the other end of your paracord before you start pulling. Few times I've had to tug the line when it got kinda stuck and it pulled the entire length of para down so I had to redo the lines. Extremely annoying

This what I did most of last year since I was not too good with the throwball yet. Lots of limbless trees where I hunt.

I meant the slingshot operation. I have a load of SRT videos but no slingshot videos.

For limbless trees I use my trekking poles to push the climbing rope up, climb up, set my platform, stand on it, push rope up further, repeat.

I tie the paracord into a loop, there is no free end to come down.
