Shorten your leg loop and you'll gain more height per move.Comments anyone ?
That's where presets come in if you want to hunt early. Afternoon hunts you just need to go in earlier to setupIt seems to me like the rubber meets the road when it's dark out and you're trying to use a throw bag to get over a limb. I'd work on that next to see if you'd actually like SRT. It looks like a really nice climbing method, but I've done enough bear bagging to know I will probably never try SRT.
Slingshot worked GREATThrow line is definitely a challenge, but do-able i think. Not in the dark dark but grey light is ok.
This what I did most of last year since I was not too good with the throwball yet. Lots of limbless trees where I hunt.SRT Has always intrigued me as a climbing method....... but dealing with a throw bag in the dark has always turned me off..... also if a limbless tree is in the perfect spot you can’t climb because there is no limb to throw the rope over.
I set 5 preset mason's twine loops last week and used one of them Thursday. That's where presets come in if you want to hunt early. Afternoon hunts you just need to go in earlier to setup

Ok...I meant the slingshot operation.
For limbless trees I use my trekking poles to push the climbing rope up, climb up, set my platform, stand on it, push rope up further, repeat.SRT Has always intrigued me as a climbing method....... but dealing with a throw bag in the dark has always turned me off..... also if a limbless tree is in the perfect spot you can’t climb because there is no limb to throw the rope over.
I tie the paracord into a loop, there is no free end to come down.Word of caution on the presets. When you're pulling your climb/throwline out of the tree with your paracord attached...tie off the other end of your paracord before you start pulling. Few times I've had to tug the line when it got kinda stuck and it pulled the entire length of para down so I had to redo the lines. Extremely annoying
Similar to one sticking, but with platform and SRT.For limbless trees I use my trekking poles to push the climbing rope up, climb up, set my platform, stand on it, push rope up further, repeat.
Here ya go.....SLINGSHOT VIDEOI meant the slingshot operation. I have a load of SRT videos but no slingshot videos.

I am just an old guy having fun tree climbing and playing with sewing machines. Both these things grew out of an interest in saddle hunting from a tree saddl...www.youtube.com
