Calling all saddle manufactures!

When do you think any manufacture will come out with a padded saddle? Sitting on webbing, mesh or canvas is not comfortable after an extended period of time. Think about it any chair seat or something that you have to sit on has cushioning on it. Why aren’t we putting cushioning in the saddles? Call me a baby.

You can find dozens of threads on here where someone added padding. Anderson/Evo/Recon/ESS/Latitude all address the issue - two webbing straps taking all the pressure - They each have four straps. If you can't manage two straps, get one of those. If you can't handle that, get a web or a hybrid. Padding will just pad the 2" surface area under the webbing. It doesn't materially affect comfort - which is largely affected by hip pinch, which is generated by the force your weight puts on two webbing straps.

Because a saddle is like a hammock and not a hard chair. It's about spreading the load. When all the pressure is on a strap, you will feel it. The more straps, the more the load is spread. Material between the straps distributes weight. Adjustments on the bridge loops distributes the weight from the top strap to the bottom strap or vice versa. Cordura stretches less than mesh, distributing the weight better but its bulkier. It's all trade offs to distribute the weight while hanging on bridge loops. Hammock style saddles have no strap and distribute the weight the most evenly, but are lacking the structural support needed for fall arrest. Every company and DIYer tries to do this in their own way. All saddles, after sitting on a strap for an amount of time, will have to be readjusted to move the pressure to a new spot on your underside. Some you can sit longer than others before adjusting. Some limit you too adjustments by design. Some have too much adjustment with too much fiddle factor. Lots going on here. Thats why we have so many different designs. The more designs the better to find one to fit our individual needs. At least until they solve the gravity problem.

I’ve hunted out of a sit drag, Mantis, Tactisaddle, H2 and now have a Treehopper. After 4 hours I want to jump out of the tree. One maybe a little better than the other but it’s still a constant pressure on your A$$ that doesn’t go away. I guess I’m a baby and just need padding.

Have you tried a longer bridge? Mine is 34-36in from bridge loop to bridge loop. If the pressure is on your hips, a longer bridge will help.
I guess we 1st need to know where the pressure is exactly.

You're a baby...but where do you feel the bothersome pressure? If it's your ass (i.e. your hams) no amount of padding will help. If it's somewhere else...maybe there are some suggestions.

I feel pressure on my feet more than my butt. I do get a bit of hip pinch but that is usually remedied by pulling down my mantis when it rides up. I have one of those super fancy eberlhart saddles on back order though so maybe that will help. Kinda tempted to try one of those bag platforms to stand on. Cant remember the name but was sure thinking about one in the tree yesterday.

Anybody know what those are called and who makes them or are those a diy thing?

Bag Platform? Never heard of it. But I'm really liking my scout mounted to a stick.

I found the thread a little while ago. Weldebeast on here has made a soft platform. Gone soft, public something or other was the thread title. After the way my feet felt yesterday I am now intrigued. Some soft padding on that scout might be in order if I can find a way to do it safely where it or my feet won't slip. Anyway, not to hijack thread.

You have to adjust your position from time to time to keep the pressure points moving. A big back band helps.

Yeah. I usually do but left the ol kneepads at home by accident and consequently got pretty fidgety. Not gonna see deer shifting around uncomfortably every few minutes.

Soft sac

Tried a search for soft sac. Who makes it?

Edit...ok I understand now after looking through. Looking at medical anti fatigue mats that I can cut and wrap in cordura and put anti slip covering on. More of a cover than a whole new platform.

I’ve owned a dozen or more saddles and in the search for comfort. Other than the DIY FLEECE no saddle has given me the comfort I wanted. I recently picked up and evo (has some padding) and it’s hard to beat on comfort. It has leg support, and saddle portion and a back portion. Each section can be adjusted to limit pressure points. Also, there is space between the saddle and the back support so there are no straps applying pressure to your hips. I’ve only had one 4 hour hunt in it this far but I think it’s a winner. It’s incredible all the thought that went into this saddle. The comfort is superb. People are reintroducing stuff like they are new inventions when the EVO has already been doing it all. Will keep you posted if I end up hating it.

While they're at it, why don't they make pivoting steps for a ROS or an angled platform so that your not putting point pressure on your feet...
