Calling all saddle manufactures!

Everybody wants an Evo... they just dont want to admit they want an Evo. ;)

I've owned an Evo... it was terrible. It was a nut crusher unless you loosed all the straps to the point it was dangerous. It was huge, heavy, and loud with all the material/straps flopping and the metal cat's paws. Sorry to speak I'll of the dead, but R.I.P. Evo, I do not miss you.

Think about it any chair seat or something that you have to sit on has cushioning on it. Why aren’t we putting cushioning in the saddles? Call me a baby.

Some of my favorite, most comfortable chairs are my camping chairs. the same concept as a saddle. Just fabric that cups my butt. Gotta find the one that shapes your butt right. I think comfort is extremely important in hunting. If you cant stand still youre gonna get busted sooner or later.

Next in line to comfort is UV materials

Agreed! I'll never curse the day I sold that thing and made my own.

You’re right however the chair legs are support you on the ground not a tether from above which is a lot different and I’m sure you’re not sitting in those camp chairs for 8 plus hours.

I'd say a more direct approach is to wear extra padding on your butt. This will add insulation, but so would padding on the saddle. Why not buy 2 or 3 pairs of fleece sweatpants, etc; and then cut them into shorts and wear them as underlayers? This would also insulate the top of your body (less ideal). In that case, just buy some camo fleece from Joann's Fabric, etc and cut several layers to fit inside the saddle.

Checkout the treehopper pedals. They pivot, but require drilling into the tree to mount them. I like em a lot.
Unfortunately, the public land where I hunt you cannot drill into the tree. It has to be a strap.

I actually thought about that. Even looked into padded shorts similar to football style.

Padded biking undies might work good. I actually have a pair, and never considered that. Cheap and easy
If Ned Beatty could not make it out of the woods in jeans and plaid, good luck doing it in a pair of spandex shorts.......... SQUEEEEAAALLL!

Some downhill bike shorts have crash pads for hips that can help, but I found that inner football compression shorts with soft hip and tailbone pads work best with saddles. Picked up several closeout pairs for $15 at TJMaxx a few years back.

The key is when you meet a suspect person in the woods to immediately tell them "I'm not wearing spandex shorts under my camo, nope not me."

I always thought about just making a little exendable stick that would just hold my bridge loops apart at the width if my waist. Like an aluminum collapsible leg pole with the button or something and a way to attach to bridge loops where bridge attaches. Just wasnt sure if that would be a safety issue or something. Hammock chairs have a pole that hold open the chair so it doesnt collapse around you. Figured it may be a safety issue because you don't want to easily get out of your saddle when hanging up in a tree but haven't spent time thinking it through really.

I thought about that exact same option but once I lengthened my bridge it really helped. I’m at about a 32” bridge now.

If you want to try that...

Come to the light, the JX3 light.
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch.
No platform required, only a ROS, no knee pads required, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs.

If they ever make one half that size...I’m in!

Try doing lots and lots of squats build up those ass muscles for more padding. Or go the other way and just buy a bunch of twinkies and add fat to it!:tearsofjoy:
