only ten years ago saddle hunting still seamed exentric even pointless to most.but john eberheart gave good explination as to why this is the right tool for him to get the job done.he had verry speciffic reasons for it that made perfect since.any idiot like myself can just go online saying its for everyone and every situation but that doesnt make it true.so much hype nowadays just like stand hunting .i only grab a fire exstinguisher when ther is a fire not when im swimming.so many videos of people shooting deer they could harvest from the ground.how many times are we going to hear i started saddle hunting yesterday this is my setup

point being ..my father n law says to still hunt.my mom says to find your favorite bench an sit .my best freind says you have to cover ground.and im the only tree climber,is any of these options all you should do....there is a time and place for all of these techneeks.acording to situation wind weather moon phase hunting presure temperature .stands and saddles are just other tools of the trade.they both have ther time and place but if you could get it done from the ground .then we are just climbing for fun.or its just the method weve been told to do .and youtubers are just doing it so sell products or veiws .im nobody to give advice. just some moron online now.dont get me wrong im verry pationate about saddle hunting .just tryin to be honest

Do what floats your boat. I sometimes am in a tree, sometimes on the ground. It is much harder to bowhunt from the ground and get a shot or not get busted if you try to let the first deer walk.

i agree compleatly.too much underbrush here to see adeer at 10 yards.but iv stated befor more hunters are injured or killed from falls than hang gliders and skydivers combined mind you its just to get a deer.people pumpin out vids of them selves shooting from a tree an animal they could have harvested from the ground. weather for clicks or advertising or just beleiving the hype.still our familts want us to come home at night.and we are safer on the ground.i get it i climb trees for fun.but i also do far stupider stuff.just have a reckless dispasition.sorry for just ramblin .dont worry i will probably be kicked off soon

"Stand Hunting" when I was young meant you stood.

We started hunting elevated when we 1. started bowhunting and 2. got boxed into small lots when open access transitioned to posted properties.

Spot and stalk, track, still hunt; these just aren't great strategies on small lots unless you enjoy seeing deer taken by adjacent hunters.

On small hunting plots, elevated hunting provided the advantages of being out of the quarry's line of sight and increased visibility.

So there were wooden stands, then some climbers, and so on and so forth.

But you still hunted earth over clouds when you hit the big woods. With gear advancements offering the possibility of large tract mobility with elevated advantage, that started to change. And now we have "mobile hunting stands & saddles".

I don't follow the masses, never have and never will. That being said, if something interests me I will research and experiment to see if it benefits me. If it works then I incorporate it into my routine, if it doesn't then it's put aside for a possible revisit in the future.
That's exactly how I got involved with saddlehunting and it has helped me to reach new milestones in my hunting journey. I don't do it because it's the newest rage these days, I do it because it gives me a means to hunt the way I've always wanted to and it compliments my style of hunting perfectly.

reading post and lokin at pics on here .its dawned on me that for some people it may be the only way to hunt where they live.98 %of hunters out here dont climb trees and tell me im crazy thats true but i tag deer and bears from trees.the majoity of treestand hunters are on private property and typicaly ladder stands
