the only sticks i like grow off the tree
Kind of new to the game. As far as attaching to the tree, isn’t a “one stick” and a regular stick fundamentally attached to the tree the same way? If so, why can you hunt some trees with regular sticks that you can’t hunt with a one stick?
It took one time..once...uno...for me to realize it is a lot easier to prepare yourself and prevent this than it is to plan for an afield emergency. Skip the morning coffee, anything caffiene, bran or protein related. Gets a good nights sleep, drink plenty of water the night before, eat a hearty breakfast (eggs, pancakes, waffles, banana as a desert) and go to the bathroom prior to leaving the house. Get your body in this schedule for hunting season and you will have energy, rest, awareness, and no emergencys! Some good responses to this already, but I just can't see hunting the same set after nature calls on #2 to take the field. I mean, we're talking emergency and I'd think the rappel would be quick enough to have a moment to unsaddle before any unwanted explosion. If not, you're gonna have to change that saddle mister and the only thing brown going down is all ready to pack out.
If it's a more casual gots-to-go, how far are you trekking to unload your extra gear? I suppose you could try and make something of a bad situation by creating a nice little wind bump to funnel deer by your stand. Personally, I don't want a pile anywhere near my spot. Clench or move on.
I had issues with really bad leaning or crooked trees at the point you have to hang from your tether to remove and replace your one stick. I would be hanging a decent distance away from the tree and it wasn't easy removing and re-attaching the stick. Other than that it is essentially the same.Kind of new to the game. good assesment ....for me tree hopper steps and squirl steps fit in a bag more comforitably.and can climb any tree crooked or with branches with slow quiet movements while standing verticle.and if deer start moving i can pull my bow off my back and draw .to much movement near a blacktails beding area and you wont see one for three weeks
dont use ocb s just camsI tried the whole squirrel step thing.
How much room does 10 Treehopper steps and OCBs take up?
It was a very strappy ascent up the tree and clipping all those OCBs was a good amount of movement too.
As much as this question gets asked on this forum I'm wondering what you guys eat before you head out? Maybe too much coffee in the tree?
I only ask because I got about half way up the tree with my hand climber once and had to quickly descend back down to make brown once. Now it's a worry if mine.
I don’t have a good answer for this other than with one sticking I tend to look for trees without a bunch of limbs like I would a climbing stand but fundamentally you could climb one sticking it’s just a lot of work over sticks for me.
