Best sitting saddle for beginner (1-stick cl method)?

Hey guys. I am going to try to transition to a saddle this year. I am 6 foot 220 and hover between a 34 and 37 waist. I plan to climb with an Ultimate 1-stick.

I primarily care about comfort in the tree stand and plan to sit mostly. My secondary concern is making sure the saddle is conducive for 1-stick climbing.

Budget isn’t really a factor because like I said, sitting comfortably is my primary concern.

Based on that, I’d love to hear from you seasoned saddle hunters on which saddle you’d recommend. Open to either one panel or 2 panel, which ever is more comfortable sitting.

(also wanted to mention….I sat in the phantom and kestrel and experienced hip pinch with both…maybe it’s unavoidable not sure)

Plenty of great saddles out there but for a 2 panel saddle I would look into a overwatch saddle. Hip pinch is not there in this saddle plus it’s made for one sticking and for sitting it’s a dream loosen up and top panel becomes a built in back band and you sit on lower panel

I am your exact size - 6’ 220 lb. The best saddle I’ve used is the Cruzr XC but even still you will feel slight pressure. It comes with the territory in my opinion. However, if your willing to try something outside the box you could try a Dryad saddle which is a hammock saddle. With that I don’t think you’ll experience any hip pinch.

I’m sure you will get many opinions! This is the question many are asking :) best of luck and happy hunting!

I get hip pinch if my tether isn't at the right height, but I use an amsteel adjustable bridge so i can shorten it for going up and down, and have it longer when I am at height. I definitely reccomend a 2 panel for single sticking.

To note. I haven't seen one bad word said about the Transformer saddle since it's been out. I have a Kestrel. I consider it tolerable. But I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a Transformer soon.

Transformer!

*edit* Came back to say that you could always try out the new Method 2 XL.
Then you can give us your opinion of it...

Has anyone tried one sticking with that Cruzr 2 panel? The bottom seat on that one looks really roomy

Thank you guys so much for your responses. It really helps. Also extremely pleased to hear that not only is climbing 1-stick not a bad idea....maybe some actually prefer it....sweet.

As a beginner, I'd say there are two things that really bug me about shopping saddles. That it's almost impossible to try before you buy.....and related: there's SO MANY options. I think this is the biggest challenge for the industry.

That said, I came into this torn between purchasing the Eberhart Signature Series (ESS) or the Method 2....but now yall have me thinking about the Transformer. If anyone has tried all three or has some strong opinions about which choice I should make.....I'm all ears.

I really just want to sit in them all and make a choice! I hate this process. :tearsofjoy:

FWIW: I tried an ESS and did not like it. I especially think you would dislike it one sticking and as a first year saddlehunter.

See if you can find a meet up. Or reach out to some guys in your area. SH guys are cool dudes who like sharing there systems. Check the map and see who is around. Or just put a post out for an area to see if anyone is near by.

Where do you live???

I live in Rock Hill, South Carolina...about 45 minutes south of Charlotte.
Just checking we’re having a meet up in Maryland next month & will have most everything available to take a look at. I would just post a thread saying anyone near Charlotte that has a few saddles you can check out. It would be worth a decent drive to see what you like……

Alternative to try before you buy is buy then return what you don’t like. Most saddle companies have a generous return policy.

I like one-sticking the best!!!!!!!

I have a Transformer and a first gen Method.
The Transformer is AWESOME and the Method is Awesome...

I would give the Transformer the nod for a recommendation to someone else. That being said, I don't think any of my other saddles have left the house since I got the Method.
