Is it a good setup for just beginners or is it really a great bow. Just hard to image
It being any good for that price

Well I'm no seasoned vet when it comes to traditional equipment by any means but I've shot em off and on for years. Trying to get more serious about it. I have a blackhunter longbow and love it. I have a sage too which has been raved about. I like the looks and grip much more on the blackhunter. Bought another one today matter of fact. Leatherwall site has a bunch of old threads on em if you do a search. You won't find much negative on em. From what I've noticed if you do buy one and don't care for it should be an easy sell without getting hurt too bad

I haven't found anything to make me want to replace mine yet. I've hunted with it for two seasons and killed 3 deer with it. Zero complaints. I have read that there are some that are a different riser material. I have a model from Lancaster and my wife has one from hitman archery. no issues out of either one.

I absolutely love mine! It shoots as good as a custom bow and costs a very small fraction of the price. I will recommend getting a good string for it though. The one that comes with it is junk.

I have shot trad for almost 20 years and have owned a boatload of high end bows. I got a black hunter right before Christmas as I had been wanting to try one for a few years. After shooting it, I have to say that they can’t be beat , not only for the money but period. Most of the expensive custom bows I have owned over the years don’t shoot any better. The grip is also very nice. I’m going to hunt with it next year.

I have owned a lot of bows through the years and some I have spent 4 figures for some. When people started talking about the Black Hunter I was turned off because of the price. I thought there was no way it was as good as they were saying. Yea it’s made in China. If you can swallow that pill and accept it for what it is, a well made bow that shoots better than a lot of bows for a price just about anyone can afford, it’s a helluva bow. The string does look like it was thrown together by someone forced to make one at gunpoint and you want to replace it.

I have some amazon gift cards and was thinking about picking one of these bows up on there…would yall that are experienced with them advise against it and spend the extra $100 to get one from lancaster (galaxy ember) or twig archery where it comes with a stringer, nock point, silencers, shelf/side plate and a fastflight string? I think i know my answer but figured id check with the more experienced guys. Thanks in advance!

I’d order from twig or Lancaster. You’ll be getting a good one, and if something does happen they’re more like to help you out. Use those gift cards for inserts, field points, whatever else.

Thank you! Thats what i figured, the twig archery one sounds like a good deal for $199.99 with the extra stuff. Ill give the gift cards to the wife to distract her lol or like you said for arrow building supplies.

What's the difference between the Galaxy Ember and the Black Hunter, from pictures they look identical.
I just got the Ember 3 weeks ago and it shoots fantastic. I took 3 shots yesterday. I split the leaf I aimed at from the stand at 10 yards then killed 2 squirrels with the next 2 shots. Can't believe it shoots as well as my 1500 dollar custom bow.20220108_094512.jpg

Risers are the same for the most part and limbs are interchangeable. I have both Ember longbow limbs and Sinoart limbs from Amazon. The Sinoart limbs have a more aggressive reflexed profile and are smoother.

I think it’s six one way and a half dozen the other.

I have had both and they both shoot good. I prefer the Recurve limbs because of aesthetics alone. It has a Recurve riser and the longbow limbs didn’t look right to me. The Recurve limbs are probably a tad faster but hardly noticeable.

I recently got a Black hunter to test the waters of traditional bow hunting, and am a complete newbie. Anyone have any advice on starter arrows and broad heads they like for hunting with it?

A lot of people swear by them but I have never used one. When I was starting out I shot a couple of bear bows and a good old bear bow can be had from a reputable used bow dealer for pretty cheap. I made the personal decision of going with American made bows and have never looked back.

I have a vintage Bear, but performance is nowhere near the Black Hunter. The Bear is much easier on the eyes, but that's about it.

Interesting. I’ve shot a bunch of vintage bears and the experience has varied. I was in Golden CO and went directly to RMS store and used their range. Spent the day shooting vintage bears and settled on a 71 tigercat which was simply the best of the bunch. I think I paid 200 out the door. I like the new bears also.

I've got a '64 Kmag that I absolutely love. Shoots smooth as can be. I seen all the positive reviews of the Black Hunter, so I ordered the longbow to try and possibly become my new hunting rig. After a couple shots, I was sold. Replaced the original string with a nice D97 flemish string and it's even better. You really can't beat it for the price.
