Any of the High-Speed/Low-Drag types on here able to comment on using a leg bag for a rappell rope, instead of tossing it down the tree before you ascend?
I like the idea of keeping my rope protected from the elements while I'm in the tree, and only paying out what I need as I descend. I've seen some Youtube videos on it and it seems thay some canyoneers use this technique at times, as well as Air Assault, SWAT, and firefighters.
In your experience, what are the advantages and disadvantages? Anything to watch out for?
Thanks in advance.
