Just seeing the news that the bowmar team was poaching. Really pisses me off.. when you hunt so hard for years to get on a decent buck on public land, because you’re not rich and famous with your own farm and guides and buddies with farms.., and these guys, millionaires, their own private land, taking bucks I could only dream of seeing in real life.. and then they need to go poach deer?

Again? Or is this another ripple from their 2020 case based off 2015-2017 ish activities?

Edit- googled a bit, looks like their trial has been continued a few times and is about to wrap up. Interestingly, he had some issues in Iowa in 2021, seems like the going theories are either 1. He's an idiot, or 2. The Iowa thing was on purpose "see I self report when I screw up" to try to influence the Nebraska case.

Either way I'm saddened to see that he's still being talked about, the idiot burned up a brand new truck for YouTube clicks a few months ago, people thought it was for insurance fraud but he probably makes more off of ads and merch as a result of that stunt than the truck MSRP.

YouTube influencers, just another example of "absolute power corrupts absolutely". As soon as people change from filming what they like to do and trying to make it their career to instead gaining followers and maximizing profits as the #1 goal, they change. I wish there was a YouTube algorithm for diyers that weeded out anything from the top % of influencers, but then no monies would be made.

The trial wrapped up earlier this week from the 2015-17ish activities and all charges have been dropped. They were found innocent.

That's not true. They entered a plea deal and pled guilty to one charge in order to have the other charges dropped. They are set to be sentenced later on.

Part of the conditions of the plea deal were to not deny their guilt with regards to the charge to which they pled guilty. However, they instantly did so on social media, hence why you might be here stating what you are.

Folks over at archerytalk are tracking this and posting court documents and what Josh is doing now and everything is in black and white and extremely clear.

I don't know or care about this but from reading the article it makes me think that the outfitter was the 1....right? Let's say hypothetically u call an outfitter and set up a hunt. U show up and dude says go sit here and u gonna see a big 1....go and sit there and shoot a big 1 and high 5s all around. Over 50 other peeps busted too. Ultimately it's on u to make sure u read and understand.the rules but I guess u just cant assume ur guide isn't gonna do u wrong

Exponentially more information to sift through due to technology and population education lowering the barrier of entry to publish said information.

everyone has a potential platform now, as you wrote, and the Dunning-Kruger Effect (i.e. too dumb to know you're stupid...it's been quantified) means the more you feel people should listen to you then the lower the chances of you actually being worth listening to....they did a survey and some insane % of high school (it was like 1/3 to 1/2) listed "social media influencer" as their future career path

I don't think that's insane. Kids are dumb. They're "supposed" to be. I'm sure half the kids in the 60s wanted to be Dylan or Jagger, and the kids in the 80s wanted to be Slash.

I'd be really sad if the local kids all realized at 16 that the boys were statistically likely to either work for the local utilities or construction firms, and the girls were gonna wear scrubs or sell insurance or real estate. Nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong. But there's plenty of time to embrace the idea that your lie somewhere in the middle of the bell curve later in life.

doesn't "i'm gonna be an astronaut" hit a little different from "i'm gonna post stuff on facebook"?

Did you read that in the supermarket tabloids? Why does it seem like truth is harder than ever to find?

Fully admit that I heard this from someone inside the industry that I believed to be a credible source. Should have fact checked myself but I have to read court docs at work and don't care to in my free time so I probably still wont but I was definitely misinformed and shouldn't have spread that false info ever farther. At the end of the day I don't give a flying _____ about the whole case or them, has no effect on me or my hunting so ill move along.

levi morgan is supposedly fibbing on their behalf and telling folks to apologize to him

I don't think so.

Why does a teenager want to be an astronaut? Because it's awesome. Or, more accurately, it makes him feel awesome because other people think it's awesome.

Why does a teenager want to be an influencer? Because it's awesome. Or, more accurately, it makes him feel awesome because other people think it's awesome.

Teenagers are famously, astonishingly selfish and image-obsessed. That's normal. Just like sexual maturity causes a surge in sexual obsession as the body adjusts to a new system coming online, once the part of the brain responsible for self-referential thought comes online it causes a massive surge in selfish thoughts. Both generally fade in importance to the individual as they get used to it and the systems reach equilibrium. They grow out of it the same way babies grow out of putting everything in their mouths.

You can do good as an astronaut. You can do good as an influencer. But most kids wanna be awesome and make ****loads of money and impress members of the opposite sex.

I would disagree. Every time a high profile personality in hunting screws the pooch like this anti's will without question use it to sway the court of public opinion and the courts themselves where they have had success in getting season's closed or stopped from opening. Blatant disregard for the law because you know you have enough money to buy your way out of most problems should come with the maximum of penalties. Hunting industry or any other arena.

I've often wondered how our society would work if we treated fines like taxes...proportionate to your income.

I remember my first speeding ticket as a teen being absolutely gut-wrenching because I had no money. My second was just an annoyance.

I know for fact that many Alabama businesses account for EPA fines as part of their operating costs.

Jail time for some people means they lose their job and their life unravels. For others, it means a little embarrassment.

What's the saying? "It's illegal for both rich and poor to sleep under bridges."

Absolutely!! We all lose when things like this hit the papers, social media platforms and other communication venues. Unfortunately, many of the misinformed or uneducated simply group "hunters" together. You typically don't read many pro hunting articles like how does hunting benefit the environment and both game and non-game species etc. You just get the bad stuff!!
