Im kind of interested in trying a small chest pack. Even a bino pack. I never take binos in the woods.
i know i know i should but , i just cant lol.
my question is does a chest pack get in way when climbing?
can you spin it around if so?
i would most likely use it for scouting trips to.
thnkd in advance

Ive been throwing the idea around of having one for my rangefinder and quick access items to free up space on my saddle and not dig in pack as much...
Me to. I want to do away with any large pack.
i want to have things in the front for easy access instead of taking pack iff snd getting what i need.
i use a stand as a hybrid setup and gave a small millitary pack under seat but i think i would or could get rid of that with a small chest rig.
wondering how much of pain in rear it is to climb with on

I have an HPG (Hill People Gear) Snubby Kit that I've been running for nearly 8 years. It works well, but does not spin around. You can disconnect it kind of under your armpit. I do wear it regularly in the saddle and while hunting, but I'm using rifle or vertical crossbow most of the time, so I can't comment on draw. I think you'd be fine, it's not bulky at all.

I carry a Glock 23, spare magazine, tourniquet, whistle, first aid kit, compass and knife in mine. The binocs (Vortex Diamondback 8x42, kind of bulky) I use would not work well in addition to the pistol. Well, they might but can't say I've ever tested it.

I give the chest pack an honest try this season. But it just gets in the way climbing for me.

Chest rigs can be amazing. In terms of climbing, they can also be cumbersome depending on how you load them. Certainly can't pack them like some folks cram a backpack.

Ideally, whatever you're bringing shouldn't bulk out of the rig more than 2-3". My first chest rig was a Condor MCR3 (basically a single molle panel). I loaded the front of that thing with molle pouches until they protruded 6" off my chest. That made any form of climbing difficult because I couldn't see what I was doing in front of me.

Since then, I settled on a Huenco and I love it. Holds a rangefinder, silky pocketboy, rappel rope/tether, tourniquet, grappling hook, flashlight and mosquito headnet.

depending on where I hunt I usually run with my ADAK bino harness with a range finder pouch. If I am in the mountains where you can see more than 100 yards I will take it and it doesn’t get in my way doing anything. It’s low profile and that’s about all I carry in it plus maybe something to check the wind, cell phone and maybe some mouth calls. If I am hunting dense woods or swamps I leave it behind and just use my range finder to see stuff a little closer. I bet you could carry calls and other stuff if you leave the binos behind. I wouldn’t want anything bigger than that on my chest though. Maybe double up with a Fanny pack and stuff in your pockets.

I am sure you have one of those LWCG waist packs. Clip it to shoulder straps of your stand and see if it works for you.
Nah dont have one of those.
i could use a military on though.

The other piece I'll throw out there for consideration is to wear your chest rig on your actual chest and not on your belly. This is a bit different than other applications where you would employ a chest rig, but because we have components in our setups located below the chest rig that we need to access/interact with (bridge, rappel systems, etc.), you'll want your chest rig in the upper lung area.

Makes a big difference in employing it effectively and being frustrated with it.

Interestingly enough I just got an email about this, it’s a thigh rig. Looks like it could work as good or better than a chest rig. Doubt it would get in the way depending on the gear you are climbing with.

Hill People Gear kit bag is what you seek.

I use a Runner's model during bow season. Front pocket holds my car keys and trail cam lock keys. Back pocket holds a p365xl. I run my binos and rangefinder on a diy Rick Young Outdoors style harness over top.

I am planning on using a Recon model during gun season with a FHF Gear rangefinder pouch and HPG bino pouch on the front. Front pocket will hold grunt tube, can call, and earplugs. Back pocket will hold my 10mm for any doe within 25 yards.
