I don’t think anyone has shown the difference between the regular size and the XL. There’s a big difference in coverage, and possible comfort between the 2. There’s a lot more material on the XL, with a bigger pleat expansion.

Anyone who really disliked this once they had it in hand? Also, does the bulk with the pockets interfere with wearing a pack with a waste belt?

I sold mine for 2 reasons, first the pouches ,which are great, didnt come forward enough for me. Second after 2 years of the simplicity of my classic 2 there was to much going on for me with buckles and adjustment.

The lockdown saddle was well built and a great idea. Dont be hesitant about trying it...my issues were solely personal

Well I have to at least give it a look, because it will be here Monday. Thanks for the reply

The saddle has everything that I’ve been looking for. The pockets on the side are money. Hopefully they’ll release some that you can put on other saddle brands.

I can wear my sitka tool belt with sitka shoulder straps and have my EWO one stick strapped to the bottom of it with no problem.

So I need to preface by saying I only messed around with a jx3 a little last year and hung a few times in the lonestar, so right now I’m a saddle user, will be a saddle hunter this fall. The lockdown seems more comfortable than the lonestar. I don’t really notice the pockets on it, in fact the big hanging pouch on the lonestar seems more noticeable

Just got mine today but so far it’s comfortable. disappointed about the amount of adjustability and my skinny ass is as narrow as it goes(honestly wish it went a bit smaller). Bunch of rolled up straps everywhere, 30x34 pants so I’m used to it. I don’t plan to wear a pack with a waist belt when saddle hunting, but it looks like my mainframe would be OK. Top saddle strap sits right below top of hip bone. And the pockets are provably 2 inches lower. So should not interfere for walking but it might be awkward accessing the side pockets if you climb with your pack on. I’d probably tuck the waist belt behind my back to climb. Only had it a few hours so limited feedback so far. Good construction, layout seems great and very comfy

The only negative I have with the saddle is the weight. I have it and a CGM Cobra set up the the exact same….ready to hunt, and the Lockdown is 2 pounds heavier. That’s with the suspension system which may weigh 1/2 pound at the most.

just got mine too and have the same thoughts. The belt and all the straps really are way too long. I'm guessing it is the same straps for the XL or something because they are way too big. I have only sat in it in my basement for a few minutes so far. Hoping to play with it more tomorrow.

Interesting. The advertised weight is quite a bit heavier, but it didn’t feel heavy to me, except when I started exploring all the stuff I could fit in those side pockets. For me I think the trade off of not having awkward add on pockets flapping around on the side is worth the extra weight. Haven’t quite figured out the best way to use the space yet, since I’ve only had it a few hours, but I think I’m going to like it.

Right. None of it seems to be problematic so far, just a nuisance because in just the couple hours I’ve been using it one of the rolled straps already fell out. So before the season starts I’ll need to pull out the tape and muck all the straps up with adhesive. Especially in the $400 saddle category they should do better with sizing. I could still fit my late season layers under this with it just about fully tightened, and big balls of rolled up straps everywhere

You could probably shave off half a pound by trimming the straps back :grinning:

I was disappointed in how far the pleat opened. (Size Regilar) I expected it to be as comfortable as a latitude method but it didn’t seem to match up for me.

Big difference in comfort between the regular and the xl. I didn’t care for the way the regular fit me. Like you said, the pleat opening lacked size. I’m a 34-36in waist and the xl is money as far as comfort goes. Totally different feel than the regular. But that comfort comes with it being heavier, due to just being a larger saddle.

After seeing those pictures you posted, I figured that may have been the case.
