Nice buck @Silvio !

I likely tore my ACL playing baseball today. Never tore an ACL before but it was a loud pop and gave out. Kinda a freak thing I was coming in from CF full speed for a tweener ball, last second trying to avoid colliding with the SS and it just went out from under me.

Sorry team, but the hunting season is not looking good on my end. Sulking with a case of founders tonight, and we'll figure out tomorrow tomorrow.
Hate to hear that. Hope it's not that serious and you dont miss the season.

Always hang the prime spot when it is 3-4 days either side of the full moon. Just dont tell nobody, let em keep thinking the full moon is horrible. Had 2 mature bucks in Saturday evening way before dark. Temp was still 90 but moon was right and barometer was over 30 and bucks were on their feet.
Full moon is my favorite time to hunt, I know most people hate it, but I don't. My best buck was killed in that window.

Sssshhhhhh!!!!! Lol. Yeah will be off the full moon but I will for dang sure take a 25 degree drop in temps, high pressure, north wind and an overhead moon at 8am. Should be 2 strong morning hunts this weekend.

Well dammer. I picked a new spot, found the right trail and seen 2 damn deer on my way out, on the trail. I needed to be farther from the road, and I thought, closer to bedding. Still progress!

Copied from a text to a buddy.

I need to figure out where they came from, I *thought* headed towards a wet spot a few hundred yards was money but no luck.

I'm forecast for about 20 degrees drop over Thursday and Friday. Any places in particular I should plan on going? I have a spot I thought about trying this weekend, it's been sporadic for pictures

I dont know where you are but around here I expect to see a good number of those early scrapes that pop up between bedding and food. The ones that show up and then almost immediately go dead. Not true rut travel scrapes, though your primary rut scrapes like hub scrapes may get hit as well. I would focus still on bed to feed routes, primary acorns trees or other preferred mast crops and hard cover edges used for travel or transition. It's still early and loading up on acorns will still be a priority but they should be feelin froggy too with such a significant weather change.

I'm in west Michigan. Funny enough I did set up by a scrape last night that sounds spot on what you're talking about.

I should add I would set up by the road but it's private on the other side, with corn. So I figured I had the food, had the trail I just needed to get close enough to bedding to catch them in legal light, and keep them on the public side. I'm not sure that acorns are dropping yet, a few sure but there's green ones on white oaks still. Leaves are just changing here, maples is getting pretty colorful but everything else is pretty green yet.

I'm considering getting back in there again tonight, risky to shoot them that close to the road and I'm tired but it's similar weather today. I think they're going back to the corn, no blowing or stomping last night. They just ran off 10 yards or so and watched my walk by

Boss man lives about 13 miles south of this spot and says he's just swimming in brown acorns. So just be it's time. Anyway windy says favorable winds so it's getting another go tonight. Going to head a little different direction this time

Brother anytime you have a hot day with a cool morning and the moon is overhead..it’s dynamic…look I’m 66 with lots of whitetail experience. I had a buster buck (5yr old) a 3yr old a 2yr old and a yearling all within 23 to 10 yards from my ambush spot…the only shot I had was the three yr old…the rest is history…misty cool mornings, moon overhead, leading into the red moon phase is one of the best set ups you could have. Many will miss the fine details and rest on the assumption it’s to hot to hunt. It’s a day to take big risks that produce big dividends…

Well despite a miserable time last night I'm going to head back in tonight. Hopefully windy is correct this time, probably going to have to get one of those thermacell doo dads everyone else has lol.

Hunting is more important than laundry, and sleep. Right?
