I saw these listed in the classifieds of another hunting website. A decent idea in theory.....but adds weight and clutter.....plus what happens if they don't stay in place as desired? Thoughts.....

No need. Particularly on a one step, strap style aider, it's really not difficult to get your foot properly seated in the aider, either by hooking your toe inside the side of the aider just below the step before stepping down, or by angling your foot down slightly and wiggling your toes and then stepping your heel down.

agree on max aider. I haven’t tried either, but physics tells me that max will work, this one will just flip up or down and be frustrating.
*Edit: get the Maxx IF you’re having trouble with a strap aider. Personally I’ve never had an issue, and even Amsteel aiders are easy. If I tried the Maxx aider I would use one on the stick along with a 2 step amsteel aider, and have the Maxx hold the others away from the tree for you.

Too much stuff. All the gear in the world doesn’t fill tags. My current and long term goal is to build more skills and rely less on stuff.
I'm seeking the balance point between "enough" and "too much" in regards to my saddle setup. Cutting weight has been a key part my focus this initial season and I feel I have a solid, workable setup at present. I'm comfortable with sticks....that has been my primary method of getting up trees for many years.....outside my climbing stand. But sticks have upward limits without adding aiders of some sort......thus the search continues.

I get it that some spend more on a single stick than I have in my four Latitude carbon SS sticks....then ascend in a different manner. Others prefer ropes, ascenders and rappel down with some form of descender. Every specialty has a parts list that the proponents feel are worth the investment and effort to haul such to the woods. So how is the gear issue satisfactorily addressed for such a broad range of users?

It seems to be sold as their approach or 'system'.....so it is an aider with extras? I thought it looked like a gimmick, but who knows?
Ive never seen this before, and dont know where you found it, but my assumption is they’re selling just the “novel” part of the solution and you provide your own aider.

That said, unless there is something not visible in the picture, and it’s also made out of some super strong metal, it’s not going to work well and will be more frustration than it’s worth.

Have you tried stacking the aiders to make a multistep maxx aider?
No I haven't. I would need to see where to attach the lower aider to the upper aider in a secure fashion. The amsteel should be rated for that. It is just a matter of figuring out how to attach them to one another. I guess a girth hitch?

I don't think it's meant to be strong, the only time you need it is when your foots not in it. it's just to keep your aider away from the tree it does not support anything...I've also seen people use a zip tie for this reason.

See I like that better because a zip tie will get out of the way then spring back rather than bend.

The problem is coming down. Going up you can grab any aider and position it for your foot before stepping up on it. What happens when you step on and off these? That zip tie sure ain’t gonna just stay there like that.

the zip tie is only for when your foot isnt in it. it bends when your foot is in it and pops back when its not to keep it away from the tree. Its def not the best option but a good diy to use.
