Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

Not sure if an effort has already been made. But I'm interested in acquiring turkey feathers. But I don't hunt turkey due to time, or lack of them anyway. But I know a few of you all do.

So who here turkey hunt but have no use for the feathers?

Anyone interested in making a few (very few in my case)$?

I'm sure other from the trad group would be interested too.

Nothing against 3Rivers or other stores. Just trying to see if I can source them myself from other in the forum if they are going to be discarded either way.

But FYI, Wild Fletching is a good company if you want to send your feathers in for trade or some spare cash too.

Dang good idea here. I am just getting into traditional and wanted to try my hand with turkey feathers. I have my son hitting up his turkey hunting buddies to save the wings for me, but so far the birds are out smarting them.
Post some pictures of your creation's.

What type of jig do you use for attaching the feathers. I would like to do some fletching just so I can play around but not sure which jigs work best or are more adjustable for different options.
Thanks

I use a Jo Jan jig.

I chop more feathers than I burn. They seem to come out a little cleaner. At least for me.

Never messed with the choppers but it seems a little surprising that you think it is cleaner than using a burner. I wouldnt have thought that would be the case.

I'm not always happy with the edge left by the burner. Too slow and you burn too deep, too fast and you can fold the feather and get it a touch uneven. It's probably just me, but I find it easier to just chop and stick.

My feather burner is an old classic though so I'll never part with it.

Have you put a new wire on it? I started having a few of the same issues with inconsistent burns and a new wire fixed it. My burner was my Dad's and is close to if not as old as I am.

On a similar vane (pun intended) I would like to barter a 3D print or two for wing bones. Deboned but with flesh still on en would be fine. Zip lock in a freezer bag and send my way. PM if willing.

That would be a great project!
