What thread for sewing non-climbing attach points to RCH?

Thanks for the quick reply. I was reading through the DIY Sewing thread, but it turned into more of a "What kind of sewing machine should I get" thread and I got lost. ha!

What thread for sewing non-climbing attach points to RCH?

I'm looking at adding some 1" webbing strips to my RCH so I can attach my dump pouches via their MOLLE webbing. Anybody have suggestions on any specific type of thread to use for that? It's not climb-supporting, just holding pouches, but I would still like it to be durable. My wife said her...

    Rope Mod for Helium Sticks?

Man.. I'm glad I found this. I made some Amsteel daisy chains. I tried them in the yard and they didn't seem too bad, but when I was in the 'real' woods Saturday trying get up the try super quiet and it was hot and I had sweat dripping in my eyes, I was about read to throw those things into the...

    Sit Drag

Which rope for wet freezing conditions? Tether, linemens, etc

Guess I'll stick with the HTP for now until it needs replacing then make the switch over to Canyon. I'm in GA, so we don't have too many instances of icy freezing ropes. :)

Which rope for wet freezing conditions? Tether, linemens, etc

Are those all the Canyon rope in different diameters? I've read where people say 40' of Oplux will fit in the bottle holder (I have one). I know the 9mm HTP is far from fitting in there - it's too bulky and too stiff. Curious where the 9mm Canyon fits between those two.

Which rope for wet freezing conditions? Tether, linemens, etc

Sorry to revive a fairly dead thread... Wondering if you guys that are on the Canyon rope have used 9mm HTP static rope in the past and could offer up a comparison between the two? I'm currently using Oplux as my tether/climbing rope for 1-sticking, but have 40' of 9mm HTP static that I tie...

tether and rappel rope as one?

I'm using 8mm Oplux as my tether while ascending via 1-stick and when I get to my target height. As others have mentioned, I try to keep from having a long tail swaying around at the base of the tree. I have 9mm HTP static rope that I switch over to when it's time to rappel down. I also use it...

    Rappelling hardware

I'm using a Black Diamond ATC device backed up with 6mm TRC auto block. I'm using 9mm HTP static rope as my rappelling rope.

Looking for biner that's safe for girth hitch

Thanks folks. I'm using HTP 9mm static rope as my rappel rope and Oplux for my tether. I use the tether as my primary climbing rope for single stick and then switch over to the HTP when I'm ready to come back down or when I need to get over a limb. Just found this over at DanO's site: "Plated...

Looking for biner that's safe for girth hitch

I'm getting comfortable one-sticking up and rappelling down. I'm using a figure 8 on bight and girth hitch to anchor to the tree, but I would like to find some sort of 'biner type device I could use on the loop to make it easier to rethread the rope. Every time I come to a limb that I need to...

    Camping hammock?

Check out Bushcraft Outfitters as well - definitely not trying to steal business from DanO, but if he doesn't want to invest in tarps, BCO is a good 'Made in USA' source for this type of stuff. That is where the tarp in my previous post came from. Again - zero affiliation with them, just a...

    Camping hammock?

This is my setup. When it's warm I will tie the 'wings' of the tarp up higher so more air can flow through. If it's cool and/or rainy & windy, I will put the wings down lower so less air blows through. I've used it in 40* temp without an underquilt - it wasn't fun but it can be done, and I've...

    Camping hammock?

Have you seen Yukon Outfitters? I believe they are Made in USA. I have absolutely zero affiliation with them other than I bought a hammock from them a couple of years ago and it has become my go-to for pack-in camping due to it being much lighter weight than my ENO. Seems as durable as the ENO...

    Whoopie sling for tie down

I would be curious how the vibration from the wind and road bumps would affect the whoopie sling - its strength based on constant pressure being placed on the 'inner' section of the string. I would worry a bit about the constant vibration causing the whoopie sling to loosen up a bit. I have no...
