Rope Vs Web Cobra buckle belt

I have rope belts on both of my lead saddles and prefer them because I like to loosen my waist belt once I’m set up in the tree, and I’ve found it much easier to execute this maneuver with a rope belt than a web/buckle belt.

FYI: Wood Hunting Saddles Closing Up Shop

In my prayers, Mr. Wood. You’re a good man. Love the saddle I bought from you.

    Saddle saturation?

There’s something to that larger body thing. God willing, 2023 will mark my 20th season of hunting more-or-less exclusively from a saddle. I’ve noticed that of the hardcore saddlehunters I’ve known, those who hunt a primarily from a saddle and have done so for a number of years, I can't think...

    Tree Saddle Hunter Magazine………

The only paper magazines I receive are part of hunting/conservation memberships I have. NDA, DU, PF, P&Y, and Michigan United Conservation Club through my local gun club. I do read 'em all. But I directly subscribe to none. FWIW. A saddle hunting mag sounds cool, I would subscribe. Not...

    What’s the Hottest?

That, right there, is the Big Four of today's quality saddles. You could not go wrong with any of them.

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

Having owned the New Tribe/Aerohunter Evolution and Kestrel, I would say that is a really good way of putting it.

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

The Wood dude built me one with a rope belt, a feature which I prefer. In the event it loosens a bit, one tug and we're tight again. I've owned/tried over one dozen saddles, and so far, NONE are better.

    Buying my first saddle.

Which gives further credence to how individualized these products are. Me, I sit/lean about 50:50; a lot depends on the lean, curvature, and diameter of the tree. Tried three different two-panels before concluding they weren’t for me. Worth mentioning here that I’ve owned a good dozen+...

    Saddle life expectancy

I have an old Trophyline Treesaddle, circa 2003, that I no longer hunt from. With its heavy duty construction, hardware, and robust webbing, I can see it being good for, oh, about 100 years.

    Latitude Classic 2

CGM did the mod and performed an A+ job on it. The Classic 2 is now perfect! May have to try CGM for my backup saddle for when my Classic 2 is drying out from rain days. Upgrade from my current backup.

    Latitude Classic 2

Gracias! 18 year saddle vet here who has owned 10+ saddles and I love everything about the Classic 2 except the damn LL configuration which pushes my dump sacks WAY back, as Enkriss mentioned. Will pursue this mod! The C2 seems to fit my anatomy perfectly and I love the rope belt. I like to...

    What's going on at AeroHunter?

I’ve owned the Evolution and the Kestrel, and have always thought there’d be another Aerohunter in my future. But with the weirdness of the updated Flex, and the integrated lineman’s of the Shrike, I deferred. I do hope they get resurrected.

    Single vs 2 Panel Saddle

Have owned two two-panels and tried a third. Have still never found the “sweet spot”. All were more uncomfortable for me than any of the flock of single panels I’ve owned. They’re simply not for me. It’s just a highly individualized type of product. Which is why you can’t answer the question...

    Most comfortable saddle for leaners

The Classic 2 is the lead saddle in my fleet. Fits me well, love the rope belt. Biggest downside is the configuration of the linemans loops forcing the molle too far back, which makes it cumbersome to reach into my dump sacks.

    Talk me out of bolts

Long time user of Cranford rod steps in the trees on my private ground. Counting the ones in “retired” trees, I have way over a thousand of ‘em. Last couple years, I’ve used 1/2” rebar. Cut ‘em in 9-91/2” lengths, use a 13mm drill bit(a c-hair bigger than 1/2” makes it much easier to install...
