    Best ring of steps??

So I have used 8 steps, 5-6 to get to height and the rest for the platform. On long sits I found they would not stay tight and work loose but it was also bark and diameter dependent. Where I hunt I didn’t want to be too high or shooting lanes get tight and cluttered. As a climbing method they...

Funniest or oddest places you did your first setups

I figured during all of this I might start a fun thread. Essentially when you first started doing set ups or first spot you hung your saddle up at once you got it. First setup would be on a lunch break I drove to a park down the road from my work and set up the saddle to try it out the day...

    Best ring of steps??

I will be the odd man out and say that I use Wild Edge steps as a ring and enjoy them. I did not have a mobile climbing method when I bought my saddle and figured I could use the WE steps as a climbing method and platform as is. I was looking at the squirrel steps and looked like they provided...

    Scouting river bottoms

So on what you said the creek I mentioned is in my plans and how I will access the main river, there are some great trails through the cattails there. And I intended on hanging a sit in a few spots of that creek. The elevation isn’t too drastic so there isn’t much for steep edges that funnel...

    Scouting river bottoms

Alright, I would like to slip in there before the rivers rise but with how high all our rivers were this fall there might not be much to find. My best option to find hot sign during season based on the map would be to walk the private/public edge to see what routes off those islands of trees...

    Scouting river bottoms

On that ag side there is a buffer of about 70-100 yards of trees on the ridge that drops down to the river flat. Essentially only below the flood line is public. So maybe 10-20 yards of the wood edge is public.

    Scouting river bottoms

One side is ag, that drops down about 30 feet to a wide flat that has groups of trees on it, a few fingers reach down into it and a creek that feeds in that is maybe 10yards wide when it joins the river. The other side is wooded with houses spotted along that are on 5-10 acre parcels and on...

    Scouting river bottoms

Hey all, I wanted to get my thoughts out so there could see them :fearscream:. I am familiar with scouting swamp areas, small creek bottoms, big woods and farm country. But when it comes to larger river bottoms that flood every spring and wipe the woods clean of tracks, scrapes and sometimes...

At least I like it because I have not tried anything else . There is definitely small things...

    Looking for Michigan Saddle hunter

I am down in Hudsonville but make my way around the state over the course of the year. I plan on practicing with this system, shooting and setting up many times prior to season. I have a chunk of public down the road from my house I could set up and shot from different types of trees and dial in...

    Looking for Michigan Saddle hunter

As I sat in my climber, out of position and feeling unsure of what drove me to get one, the sun was setting on my third annual “Public land challenge”. I realized I needed to make a change and after careful research I bought the Tethrd Mantis feeling it was the best fit for me and what I wanted...
