    2024 Sheds and Deads

Well, I struggle to find sheds, but I've found a couple nice deads. Admittedly, this was last year. He died while in velvet. Rack is very porous and light weight.

    Tether handles

I just made some amsteel handles. They slide easy and take no space. I may try to attach my pull down rope to the left one and see how it works.

Anybody ever climb just to climb?

Yup. At 64, the practice helps me retain muscle strength and memory (even my muscles are forgetful at my age). Also a great excuse to hang out at height and enjoy a moment of quiet to destress.

    Friction Hitches

I'm interested to hear as well. I have little knowledge. For me, this seemed to break a little easier.

    Friction Hitches

I wrapped the Distel a little different than "standard". Not sure if I have the "language" right, but I think it's called a three over two??

    Friction Hitches

I started working with the Sticht and I guess between my OCD with symmetry and struggling to get it tied right I ended up with this. In my practice so far it seems to work well. Instead of the overhand, I tied it off with a double fishermans knot. I assume it has a name?? Do one of you all know...

What tube dimensions do I need?

If you are using 1.25" o.d. square tubing with radiused corners, I think this should be what you are looking for. However, the tolerances may not allow them to fit. I would call to check. You may need to do a bunch of sanding otherwise.

    troubleshooting after miss

Congrats on your harvest! Asking questions, listening to advice, and learning from it will continue to make you into a very knowledgeable, successful archer and hunter.

    troubleshooting after miss

I would also suggest that the arrow could be in the deer. It was close range. Did you hear a thump or pop from the arrow hitting the deer, or brush/branches the arrow was deflecting off of, if you did miss?

    Friction Hitches

@Brocky, could you post a pic of that hitch from the back side, too? I want to be sure I'm tying it correctly. Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas!

What bothered u on your last saddle sit

Yup. That's pretty much what I do. It just takes longer than I would like...

What bothered u on your last saddle sit

Figuring out how to pack out more efficiently. Getting everything gathered up and in place to leave the woods after a hunt is still slower than I'd like.

    WNY NEWBIE

I'm in Rochester if you want to work something out. Trade you saddle info for deer hunting advice? I'm in my early 60's and decided I was getting too old to haul a climber around, so I switched a few years ago. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk
