    You need to boil the tongue first and peel off the tough leathery outer skin or it will be very tough and doesn't absorb flavor nearly as well. But it is a great piece of meat that is very often overlooked and left in the woods.

    Squeaky platform in the rain

    i cover all my platforms in carpet. Never an issue with noise, great traction, and its cheap. You can use any spare carpet you have lying around or I found 12"x12" carpet squares at walmart, 12 in a box for $12.

    Saddle question

    I'm a little bit shorter and significantly heavier and I use the Mantis XL. Works great for me but I agree it is truly subjective and depends on the person.

    climbing sticks for fat man!

    I'm a bigger guy (bigger than you) and I use the Hawk Helium sticks and yes I know they aren't rated for my weight. However, I haven't had any issue with them. They do sit a little close to the tree but I am working on a suitable mod that won't add too much stress to the aluminum.
