    WTB Kifaru Packs and accessories.

I have a new system I bought in Dec. Used it to carry a turkey blind in April. Was going on an Elk hunt but we didn’t get drawn. Still like new. I also have a 32oz ranger green Nalgene bottle holder and a 24 oz bottle holder in Kyptek. Got almost one thousand in it. The ability to easily...

    Permethrin on your saddle?

I mix one ounce of the concentrate from tractor supply in a 32 ounce spray bottle and then I add a cap full of muscadine oil used for candle making. When it gets about half empty I just refill with water again for a second run since the first is a little strong anyway. You can get the oil in...

Tradbows and Saddles - your preferred set up.

I struggled with the same problem with longbows and recurves. But now I can shoot way easier in any direction than I ever could from a stand. I tied a Kong Duck ascender to my right bridge and I use that as my linesman’s belt AND my bridge when Tethered in. My tether is daisy chain amsteel...

[Poll] Kneepad, Treepad, bruises or lean?

I use my pack. Put a rain suit in the bottom and hang at the height that allows my knees to press into the rain suit. Got all my stuff right in front of me. Works best with a platform. I even strap the packs waist belt around the tree and cinch it tight. I can then put my knee into the...

    About a trad bow...

I have a 54 inch Toelke Pika 56@28. It’s just as accurate as my 58 inch 51@29 Blackwidow PCH and much lighter. I killed two turkeys with it this spring. It seriously is just as easy to shoot as the Blackwidow. Smooth, Quiet and fast. My draw is just shy of 28 inches but I think you’d be fine...

    Lets talk bridges and tethers

I use ultra tech. It's about 6-8k strength depending on the size. But the smaller 6mm rope I use to attach my Kong duck to the right side saddle loop has much less breaking strength so I double it. I don't think you could ever break anything we use as long as you never have much slack in your...

    Backpack vs. Kneepads

It's all I ever use. I use a Sitka toolbox pack. Very quiet on the tree. I use the waistbelt to cinch up to the tree. Works perfectly with a platform but with a ring of steps there's less room but doable.

Calling All Cold Weather Saddle Hunters - Designing a Garment for Us!

There are some good ideas here but I found that if you adjust tether height really low, down to chest level at least or low as you can go, then all the clothing issues go away and I've found it more comfortable too. If you're a platform hunter it works better but you can still go pretty low and...

    Treebolts revisited

Got my new Treehopper drill Saturday . This drill is the Cadillac of hand drills! I've been using Simmons woodpecker drills for almost 30 years and this drill is even superior to it. It's a precision piece of equipment. If you have an EZKut drill and you try this one, you will toss your...

    Climbing Bolts.....

I'm in the south and use bolts in a pine quite often. When I come down I just stick the bolts one by one into the ground. The dirt helps soak up the sap a bit. It's also good to clean them with mineral spirits from time to time. And also oil your drill bit often. Makes it drill easier...
