Backpack vs. Kneepads

Does anyone use their backpack to rest their knees against the tree? I tried it today while doing a practice sit and seemed to work for the hour I was in the tree. Curious to see if anyone has tried an extended sit or does it and get some pros and cons.

I do this. I use my turkey vest as a backpack and use the padding inside of the back (not the seat, I take that off) as a knee rest. To me it's easier than separate knee pads. It has worked well for me even over a couple of all day sits this year. You can always swap to leaning for a bit if you need a break. The second video in this link shows my typical setup.

I use a mystery ranch mule, and the padded hip belt works great as a kneepad. I hang the pack from the same gear hanger that my bow is on, similar to G2's gear hanger, and can adjust the height of the pack so that the hip belt is in the right spot. Attach the hip belt around the tree and tighten it up, doesn't move at all. Works for me.

I mostly lean but do use my backpack to rest my knees when I sit. Put a cheap foam seat pad from the Walmart camping section in your backpack to soften it more.

It's all I ever use. I use a Sitka toolbox pack. Very quiet on the tree. I use the waistbelt to cinch up to the tree. Works perfectly with a platform but with a ring of steps there's less room but doable.
