    Quitting coffee

Quitting Coffee: Many of us older folks have been drinking coffee for longer than many of you younger folks have been on this planet. Coffee has become a routine for many. As one gets older coffee/caffeine can have some detremental effects: Cardalogical or digestive. A friend of mine who was a...

    Tree Saddle Suspenders!!!

I thought about suspenders by sewing buttons on the inside of my saddle and use my suspenders that I use with my pants. I instead removed the heavy buckle on my saddle belt and replaced it with a pair of 2" welded D rings that I sewed in. On the other side I sewed in male and female velcro to...

How to overcome flinch with rifles/handguns?

I am a rifle manufacture and make them big and small. As I matured my desire for rifle recoil deminished. I have shot many rifles, shotguns and handguns. About two years ago I had a customer with a Pre64 Winchester model 70 in 375 H&H with no brake. I personally own a Sako Model 995 in 375 H&H...

    Rompola Buck Update

I have two comments if the Rompala buck was in fact a real deer. 1. In the condition that I saw it, it want grow any more. 2. It want naturally sire any more off spring.

    Ropeman Safety

    1. A ropeman is not rated for a static line fall. 2. Any rope or hardwear rated for more than 1,500lb will cut you in half before it breaks if you fall far enought. 3. Rope elasticity is another factor. Static line may only stretch 3 to 8 percent. Non static line comparison Gold line (10mm)...

Prusic, Ropeman1, Mad Rock Safeguard for Tether

My saddle came with 11mm tether, 10mm bridge and 8mm prusic and both with sewn loop on one. Both with prusics and carabiners. I migrated to Ropeman 1 on both the tether and linemans belt. I changed my tether from a 8 foot to a 12 foot length with sewn loop on one end and stopper knot on the...

Not all unsuccessful hunts are time wasted

This year I was able to hunt a private forest that only allows 37 bowhunters for 7000 acres. It allows the bowhunters to use corn for bait. The primary hunt is for deer management and to harvest as many does as can be harvested. The forest has been managed and hunted for 15 years. I saw 7 bucks...

    Cold weather hunts

I modified a heater body suit By making holes with 6" sleeves for my bridge and linemans belt to pass through. The sleeves are insulated with draw strings in their cuffs to cut off any draft. I only use the heater body suit when the temperature is greater than -10. My Cabelas 9n1 cold weather...

Rope mod for Hawk Helium sticks

I prefer 1/4" Amsteel, easy to splice and easy to work with. Before splicing my loop I start with 80 inches. I use about 10" in making my loop for the versa button. I also add a loop of 1/8" bungie cord on the tail end for anchoring the rope when wrapped up for transporting.

    Boots

I use the schnee 6" Mid boot with snake proof gators. When it gets cold I switch to insulated gators. If it is raining or wet I wear 16" firemens boots. They have steel shanks made for climbing ladders. Waterproof, snake proof, warm, comfortable.

    Sticks vs Wild Edge Steps

I have used both sticks and Wild Edge Step Ladder. Both will work. I had a climbing incident with a Knaider Swaider and the Wild Edge Steps. It could have been a life or death incident it it had been higher up. It scared me and I have not used the Wild Edge Steps since. I use 5 Novix Double Step...

    Tethrd vs Trophline

I have saddle hunted for over 20 years. For the last year and half I have used a Trophy Line Covert Lite with no real complaints. I did modify both my Tether and my linemans belt. I looked at the new Trophy line Venatic. Comfort and confidence are key to me. There are many good saddles out there...

    Saddle hunting with insulin pump

I hunted all fall with Free Style Libre II sensors. No issues. They were inserted in the back of my arm. I now am using Dexcom6 sensors in my right side stomach. I insert them fairly high and in the front. Don't think they will be a problem with my saddle. I don't use a pump but I assume the...
