    Ohio property

You can have them sign a liability waiver and it will protect you. That doesn't mean they still can't sue you, they just won't win. Still a hassle and costly. They just need to go the gross negligence route. States have their own protection mechanisms as mentioned in the prior post above. I say...

Things you've learned (no gear allowed)

I've been chasing whitetails for about 45 years now; I'm not saying I'm an expert (or even good at it) ,I am saying I've taught a lot of people about deer hunting and woodmanship. I have come up with a "formula" for success to give newcomers the confidence that it will happen for them. I expect...

    Hunting season?

But I agree it can't come early enough for me as I stop relying on my hand full of ladder stands out there and hunt from a saddle for the first time this coming season. Last year in preparation for a scout and hunt method of hunting I borrowed a summit climber from a friend of mine. I ended up...

    Hunting season?

Actually September 27th is bow opener in New York state. Lots of good hunting north of Oneida lake to be had.The good old days were when you could use your gun tag from the previous year to go after an early archery buck september 27-30. Then the new season began Oct 1st at which time I...

New to saddle hunting. Are leg loops necessary?

You guys have been super helpful. I love the upside down pic from the chin up bar, awesome. I realize personal preference and actual experience are the ultimate determining factor. I've never really enjoyed the leg straps on my safety harness, flopping around and getting in the way and was...

New to saddle hunting. Are leg loops necessary?

Yeah, it seems like one of the saddles I looked at, (not sure which one), had big loose leg loops that were not adjustable. That's when I started thinking they were unnecessary, at least to some people.

New to saddle hunting. Are leg loops necessary?

I'm trying to choose which saddle to purchase. The only saddle I've been in is the mantis. I'm thinking about the H2 because many people say it is the most comfortable.? My question is: what is the purpose of the leg straps and are they necessary?

How many deer have you killed?

I'm also 62 years old but do not have the resume as impressive as Critter above. I am a very passionate bowhunter and have and have kept a journal most of my hunting "career". I have killed 40 bucks or so and many does and fawns. I suppose my life time count is around 100 deer. I haven't been...

    What did you do today?

I modified my climbing sticks to 1/2 in. amsteel to get rid of the noisy buckles. I actually haven't purchased a saddle yet or a platform for that matter. I guarantee I will be ready come fall. This is my first post and I'm here to find out what saddle to buy (amongst other reasons)
